3K or 4K to get 3500RPM??

What is the best way to get 3500 RPM?? Can I tighten down my 3K kit, or buy the little springs and back out the high idle stop??

I want to be able to get fuel to 3500RPM, but don't really want the ability to run at 4K (cause I will) on a 312K mile bottom end

Just want a little more top end to stretch out the power and spin it a little harder on the little end!

Thanks Guys,
Chris

my mileage aint nothing to yours, 170K to 312K, but i did buy a 4K kit, and am running it right now, with a 100 plate, the ram fuels hard to about 3500 rpms with stock timing, at about 3600 and change it still fuels but the governer starts to pull back the fuel, I know that your 3K will rev to 3800 RPMS or so, im just not certain how far it will fuel. I know my truck will rev to 4K easily.... so id go with the 4K just for measure, ur twins will appreciate it...

I have read on here about a few things.

1 Tighten the springs down a click or two.

2 Add a spacer to make the spring seem stronger.

If you or anyone else has tryed it, let us know.

Also - if you want some more kick in that truck = add some laser cut delivery valves, should be good for about 60-70 hp on the rollers.

good luck

When i had my springs 2 clicks tighter; mine pulled pretty hard to 3200, but was harder starting. Took another revolution or 2. I backed them off 2 clicks, and now it starts great, but doesent fuel past about 2800. I want my 3200rpm(or more ) back with the easy starting if possible. I think im gonna tinker with it some soon, and see what i get. In park my truck start's missing like its starving for fuel at about 3300rpm. Didnt you tell me once that your's does the same Signature600? I would also like 3500rpm. I would probably be pretty happy with 3200-3300 if i could get it to start right though. Does anyone have ideas on this? Maybe one spring pack is tighter than the other, and i need to tighten the other side to match? Anyway's; im looking forward to an answer on this subject.

Don't need them yet..have a 913 to go on when I find time, then EDM's, and lasercut DV's are last

Thanks Though,
Chris

Yep, even misses "A bit" under load at high RPM (3000+) The 370's made it a little worse, but not bad! The twins really would like more RPM, too. EGT's are controlled!! MY EGT's haven't been under control since I had the stock plate slid forward

Starts fine though! No problems I wouldn't call normal for an engine with 313K miles, 200K of which I didn't own the truck and have no idea of it's care or use besides it being a 1 onwer and the guy driving it to work 45 miles every day! Have to give it a little fuel, to fire it, but the 370's and 17* timing don't help either!

Thanks for all the opinions guys,
Chris

Eric

shoulda gone with a 4K, im excited about mine, fuels hard to 3800 RPMS! hehehehe... anyways, mine starts up on the first try with my springs just under .60 on the measurement of the caliper, I have a 100 plate full forward, stock timing, if it hasnt slipped (yes i know ) and my AFC all the way back, i dunno what i did, its what i set it at, and my idle is at about 650-700 or so, but to get that procedure, i got it to the first line on the tach with the springs tightened, then i used the idle screw...

Best of luck and i hope u get ur RPMS..

Just curious about laser cuts..

where is the proof that they add that much HP? i only figure they push the fuel the pump delivers harder towards the injectors, not draw more, or am i wrong here? someone please correct me

what would be the effects on my 96? besides too much smoke?

Hey Rick. I do wish i had gotten the 4k now, but oh well. Hind sight is always 20/20. Im still planning on calling you maybe tomorrow. Is your phone service from cingular? If it is; i will call you on my cell i got for Christmas, so i can talk to you for free(free cingular to cingular, and night's/weekends).

Chris: I have a video i can email you of a guy on here(cant think of his username) that has a 98(i think) 12 valve auto with 3k springs, and it shows it pulling hard all the way to 3500rpm's on the dyno, so i know it can be done. If you want, I will email it to you.

We are gonna figure this out; cause i want my RPM's too!

I think the 215 pumps will fuel a little higher than our anemic pumps

Since I posted this, one of the awesome guys on the board offered me a 4K kit for the shipping

So, right now I'll be swapping those into my 913 and adjusting it down the 3500RPM if I can, with the ability to go farther if "needed" later

Next question is should I go ahead and spend some money on a ported and O-ring head with some fancy hardware

Thanks Again Guys,
Chris

Actually the video was of an automatic; so it had the 180 pump. I still think im gonna tweak on mine a little sometime soon.

Let us know how that goes, I don't want to do 4gsk because the 3 is already pretty touchy up here when driving on ice, but the full fuel to 3200 shore would be nice.

Signature600 & TX = About the laser cuts, it may not help as much on a 215 pump, but I have seen whare Dodgeman01 sp?? and bobcat sp?? have seen big improvements with them.

Signature600 = I sent you a pm.

One more question...is the 4K kit just the inner springs, or is the seat part of the kit too?? I can't remember what I've heard!

Thanks,
Chris
