3GSK or 4GSK

Gettin ready to order a governor spring kit...I only really need 3000 RPM but have been thinking the 4GSK would give me better fueling (defueling) up to the 3000 RPM mark then the 3GSK kit....if I understand correctly the 3GSK starts to defuel before 3000 RPM....I would like to stay fueling up to 3000 RPMs

I dont hot rod...or plan to run over 3-3100 RPMs...and I really dont want to change my valve springs

Depending on what mods you've already made ??? You are better off with the 3K springs ... If you are planning on doing some major stuff ... and are planning on hot rodding then the 4k is for you .... regardless ... if you put the 4K springs you need to change your valve springs. I'm shifting @ 3600 rpm with the 4K's .... and can easily take it over 4K ...<br><br>I've done dozens of spring upgrades ... for the modest power upgrades and for those who just want better response .. the 3K is the way to go ... <br><br><br><br><br>

I just ordered the 4k GSK, but it hasn't arrived yet.<br>The valve springs are not a prob to change.<br>If you ever plan to buy a brake you will have to replace the Ex. springs then anyways. ( I see you have a slush box )<br>I figure I don't have to take it to 4k but if loaded heavy I can go more R's before shifting , then it will make it easier when I shift. On a big hill there a big drop between 3'rd - 4'th in the 5 spd's.<br>Good Luck with ever you choose.<br>Gotta go and stand guard for the UPS man. I wouldn't want to see him get Hi Jacked while he has my springs.<br><br> : Eddie : 8)

The valve springs arent a prob to change on cyl. 1-4, the #5 &amp; #6 cyl are the pain. If you have the right tools (almost)no job is too bad.

I got the 4k and like it. It makes the throttle a little jumpy but its not that bad. <br><br><br><br>Rammin on. Do you know what heppens if you do not tighten the pump springs on the gov kit enough? I have a a miss at 2800-3200 rpms. It never did that with the stock gov springs.<br>DM01

Most likely ... the miss you are getting is from your injectors ... did you go with bigger delivery valves? At that RPM with the small valves &quot;can&quot; cause a miss. Because now with the springs you are fueling at a higher RPM and the little valves aren't pushing enough fuel to keep up ...

I've got the 3K GSK in my truck and I'm not sure where it defuels at but she seems to pull HARD all the way to 3,000. I usually lift about 2800-2900 though. ;D

It's harder to do a burnout with the 3K . The extra rpm sounds so cool 8) with straight pipe I cant describe it!!! 4K is beneficial in street racing(not that I would do it) :-X. Or for the fact that the 3 &amp; 4K kit cost the same without the springs...why not do the 4K &amp; valve springs and give yourself the extra excuse to adjust the valves.

Pappyman,<br><br>Good arguements both ways, huh?<br><br>My feeling is though vavle float is addressed with the 4K kit, I'm not quite comfortable with the idea of possibly spinning the stock, high mileage engine that fast. The rotating assembly on these things is awfully heavy, pistons, and rods.<br>That's alot of mass changing directions really fast. If you built one from the ground up, using the best parts and balacing, then it would be no big deal.<br><br>My engine will easily pull right up to 3200rpm with my current setup. Throttle response is greatly improved throughout the rpm range. [And that was before the 370s I just put in.] ;D<br><br>Vin

Ok I called Piers and they said that my stumble was because of my timeing. They said to get my truck timed at 16.5 and that would give me the fuel to burn up past 3k. they also said I would get past 4k if i got the 191 delivery valves.<br>DM01
