37's with 3.55s?
I have put a FE Clutch in my truck, but i have 3.55 gearing and im worried if i put 37's on my truck, it will eat up the clutch or tear something else up. If anyone has done this or knows any advice, i would appreciate it. Also, how much lift would it take to fit 37's.

use first gear and/or change gearing. you planning on hard starts/racing or be able to move around quickly once its rolling?
i think the 7" lift clears 37" tires...skyjacker another link...38" tires

it'll be fine... it'll be slower w/ the big rubber, but it'll be fine. my buddy runs 37" boggers w/ 3.54's, and you don't need a 7" lift... I think he's got like a 4-5" skyjacker setup. looks killer. just use 1st for pulling away from lights.

Depends on what you mean by "fit".....
If you just want to get them on the truck, you can fit 37's with a 4" lift. Don't turn the wheels, don't compress the suspension, they'll rub.
I cut up my 36's with 4.5" of lift, they rubbed on the flange at the bottom of the fender, behind the wheel. I have 6" now and my 37's will rub if I compress the front while turning (like when going up a curb cut).
ChevyEater, you really need a 4.10 minimum, 4.56 would be even better. My auto runs about perfect with 4.10s, I turn 2K RPM @ 73MPH.

Cowhand, how wide are your 37's, because that makes a difference in how much the tires rub, and also do u have an idea of around how much it costs to get your truck re-geared?
Thanks for the help

Gear change front and rear is around $1K including labor. ~$600-700 for parts only.

my 35/12.50's on centerline 16.50's (don't remember the spacing, but the average for aftermarkets) will rub on turns and chuck holes. I just have leveling. After talking with Skyjacker, the say their 4.5 will clear 35's off road well, but recommend 7" for 38's. That was their advice for my offset and tire width being 12.50 w/35's and 15.50 with 38's. I know a guy that runs narrow 37's (buckshots) on stock wheels with a leveler and 3" body kit, which substantiates Forrest's 4.5-5" ruling. It all depends on the articulation you see, as well as wheel backspacing.
I once was playing with several tires at once....I would put on a set and lift it up on a hoist. I would measure the suspension drop as it started to come off the ground to simulate suspension lift. I could get a rough idea how much lift I would need by swapping around tires and playing with different hoist heights to find a good combo.........

I have 37x13.50x18s mounted on mine. I have a 3" body lift and a 2 inch spacer in the front. The passenger side used to rub on the pinch weld in turns, then I just cut the corner of the pinch weld off. I am sure if I went off roading they would rub, but normal driving doesn't seem to be a problem. I have an auto, and the 3.55's are currently destroying the tranny (3rd warrantied one ) I have new 4:56 gears that I believe were $180 apiece that I havent had time to put in yet. If Im not mistaken I believe the guys at Randy Ring & Pinion told me the carrier in the D60 in the front had to be replaced with something aftermarket to run a 4:56. I have front and rear ARB lockers going in, which can use the gears. Hope that helps. should have pictures in my section, if not Ill add them.
