I need to know if you need delivery valves if you step up to the 370 Marine injectors? If so why, if not why? I have received contradictory information so far??

You may need delivery valves if you have a pump smaller than the 215. I believe the smaller pumps sometimes have a sputter at a certain rpm when using the 370's. The 215 pump comes with 181 delivery valves and is much less likely to have the sputter problem. I have 370's and am running the 215 pump with stock delivery valves and mine runs fine. Others should chime in and correct me if I'm mistaken.

for your truck or any truck with a 215 pump they are not needed. I had them on mine for a lil while before i sold them, then got another set (on my shelf at home right now) They smoke ALOT! i think if you want more smoke or a little more power, go ahead and get the larger valves. Bobcat698 runs them and man does he smoke as well.... I was in the same debate myself... i might use them, still dunno yet..

I have the 180 HP pump-it's an auto. If I try 370's with no valves am I going to hurt the truck? If I need valves which ones do I buy?

There really is no substitute for big dv's......181 dv's (stock in a 215 pump) will fuel 370's nicely but to those that say there is no difference between 181's and 191's are mistaken - especially when it comes to fueling 370's. There is a large increase in bottom end jam with the 191's and 370's only magnify the difference. 131's which are stock on a 160 pump won't fuel the 370's well and when combined with a GSK will have a moderate top end power loss......the stutter that comes with small dv's and 370's is under acceleration and is the result of inadequate fuel flow when the spike in flow demand is sharp....when the flow to the injector drops abruptly, so to does the flow of atomized fuel out of the injector - hence the stumble. That said, 181's will not cause a stumble with 370's.

IMO, 191's are well worth the money even if you have 181's if the goal is to have a hotrod CTD......My 94 literally drives like a snappy big block truck down low and spool up feels almost instantaneous.....spool up is much faster and the 191 DV's will allow for larger turbine housings without as much of a drop in spool up.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I have not heard of a 180 hp pump that didn't have 181 dv's......A Cummins dealer can tell you what dv's your pump has if you give them your CPL #.

Yes what CTD NUT said, you have 181's.

Soooo, based on the previous posts I should be OK with just the 370's and my "stock 181" delivery valves??

I run the stock 181's on a 180 pump with my 370's, they work fine. Smokes like a freight train if I stomp on it with less than 10# of boost, but above 10# it's really move out.

I'm looking for something now that puts out the same performance gain as the 370's without so much smoke. Think I might have something nailed down.....

181s on a 180hp truck should be fine with 370's.

The delivery valves are just fine. I wouldn't install the 370's unless I intended to race the truck. You will have to go with the spring kit and the smoke is just to much with the 370's. Then get another turbo housing. The EGT's will go out the top with the stocker. Then get ready for the tranny to give up........oh crap, it's your truck, those delivery valves are fine.

370's crackle and pop alot when cold, but are fine after they warm up. i would suggest getting your timing advanced it will get rid of the crackle and poppin
