A buddy of mine is looking at as of these used for his truck. Will he need any kind of fuel plate? Thanks

no need for a custom fuel plate to run 370's. It would help but what is NEEDED is timing to compensate for the amount of fuel delivered. I would say timing is a must or the potential of the 370's wont be reached. I had my truck timed the day after installation of 370's to eliminate the high RPM studder.

He does do a decent amount of pulling with this truck. I know he wants to get more power but he also wants to keep the cost down. Maybe I should have a bought a 12v so I would know all this stuff

If there is going to be any amount of pulling being done and injectors, fuel plate, GSK, or timing has been done, then gauges are a must. I would get them before doing anything else. Just good to know what is going on instead of hoping you dont destroy your engine while using it.

Gauges are defanitly first on the list. I'm ordering a set of ISSPRO for my truck here in a day or so and he is going to tack the order for gauges on mine to help save with shipping. Please not I have warned him about his auto tranny but you can't beat a dead horse He wants the power he can have it.

You see my sig as far as mods. My tranny is stock other than the shift kit and a TC is on the list. Once that is in I will ride it until it quits, but it has held up so far with everything I have done. It does however have four quarts of Lucas Tranny fix in it.

Right now he is thinking the 370 injectors, 4" exhaust from turbo back, and gauges with possibility of a fuel plate later on down the road. What do yall recommend for timing in this truck with his set up right now. Also anyone know of any places in North Carolina that does the timing. Maybe Power by Poole in Salisbury???

I would think anywhere between 16 and 18 degrees would be ok. Anything past 18 and there may be trouble with the head gasket.

I'm at 16.5*. Seems to be a pretty standard setting and works well in my truck.

16.5 degrees here

17 is about where the hg starts to go, Make sure that the gauges are done, and do a GSK, a BHAF or intake, and a fuel plate to get the rig up to potential

Texas welder has said everything that i needed to say..

Alright thanks guys, I just bought the set of 370's for him. We are going to get Olee at Poole to jump timing on the injection pump. What is yalls opinion on a fuel plate. I'm kind of thinking a #10 since he does do some good pulling with it along with the 4" exhaust.

Just a word of caution!
370s + Timing + Any plate
Will kill a stock auto tranny or clutch in a hurry if hes towing heavy.
Not to mention he will be pulling with his eyes glued to his pyro.

On my 215 pump with just a custom #100 plate if I'm towing heavy I HAVE to watch the pyro. That is with stock timing and stock injectors.
