35" tire on 8" wheel

Discount Tire told me that their fitment guide only recomends a 275 for an 8" wheel. I have seen many trucks with stock polished aluminum second gen 8" wide wheels with 315's on them. Has anyone had any other experience with Discount Tire?

Each tire manufacturer will have a minimum and maximum wheel size for each tire. Most companies list a 285 being fine on an 8" rim. I have been running 315-75-16 bfg's and goodyear ats tires on 8" rims with no ill effects for over 50,000 miles. Don't know if this will help you with Discount Tire though?

I've ran 315s on my 16x8s for a while now and haven't ran into an issue yet.

Most tire manufacturers I've seen have a rim width of 8 to 10 inches for their 315 tires. There are LOTS of folks running 315's on an 8" rim.

I'm running a 325/80 (37/13.00) on an 8" wheel, have been for the last 190K.
Maybe this is why my front wheels bearings have lasted 243K so far??

Discount Tire mounted 315/75R16s on 8" rims for me.

An 8" wide rim is among Toyo's recommendations for a 315/75R16 size tire: Toyo

Well they didnt even talk about brands, all I told them is I wanted a 315 and the guy started telling me it wasnt recomended with an 8" wheel and that it would cause premature tire wear and this and that. I will just find another location that will mount them.

Personally I think 35s or 315s are too fat on 10" rims.

35x12.5R17 on H2s

315/75R16 on A/R OutlawII 16x8
