35/ht3b vs ps62/helix 2
Im just doing some thinking out loud. The goal for this truck would be 500 hp, very streetable, and used for moderate towing (15K once a month). I would never see the strip or the sled. Im pretty sure the twins would flow more top end but I think the spool of the ps62/helix 2 would rival that of a HX35. I dont think I would do springs for the sole reason that I would almost never see anything more than 2700rpms.
Another big thing I think I would like about the ps62/helix 2 would be economy, It added 2 mpg across the board in a deiselpower mag article, hwy, city, and towing.
My power adders would be a comp, and 150hp sticks.
I think in the end the total out of pocket expense would be within +/- $200 of each other.

a 62 will not even come close to a 35/3b as far as air goes. however a 62/helix will spool real close to stock and support 500 hp. not sure a towable 500 hp though. probaly have to turn the boxes down and just run off the sticks. orings are a must with twins compared to the 62 you could get away without them if you keep boost at 40 or under. imho i wouldnt do a helix 2 without springs no way no how. regardless of rpm.

I agree. After doing some reading and researching and see evidence of what stock springs do at high boost levels (50+) I believe that springs are a very good idea on even a stock cam. Rjohnson picked up I believe it was 6hp/130tq just by swapping springs with a stock cam on his truck. Also, I'm at 500hp with a 62/12 and I can still hit 1500*. Now granted that's at 90mph with my foot on the floor but I can't imagine how hot it would get and how fast it would get there pulling 15k. The twins will definately cool better than the 62/H2 setup.

Well, just thinking out loud. I figured the twins would be better but trying to think of different things.
I probably should have clarified that the comp would be on 1x1 for towing. Not that it matters.

Twins are the way to go, so why not use a S-300 as your top turbo with the 3b? Then as time/money allows add the cam. Shoot run studs and keep the boost down and wait on the O-rings as well. Just a few options

I can't believe that you would lose 1-2mpg from a turbo change out and cam. Twins will help abit lowering fuel mileage but nothing huge. A cam might add 1/2mpg but I bet that it would be hard to determine the improvement. Twins as for the turbo. The 35/3B is a good combo for a 500rwhp truck. You might even try a smaller 3B like a 22cm. The typical 26cm housing for a HTB-3B is cooler (egt wise) but is a bit laggy.
