Thats what I call hyper-miling with a 12valve.They had an article a while ago where they got 30mpg on a dually by folding in the mirrors and taping the wheel openings closed as well as some other stuff with tape.

it can be done. with whats in my sig im getting 33 mpg. i was only getting 28 on average then installed ddp 2 injectors and found a cheap tonneau cover n craigslist and it uped me 5 mpg. thats wth me not driving below 70 and some city. also when i tow i can get 20 mpg with a 40' kaufman 5th. it helps out great since i lie in baltimore and work in philadlephia 110miles
However, someone put a 12v, 215 with either an HX40 or just a 16cm housing & a 10 plate in a Dakota & beat 30.

I bet the transmission (8 speeds) has a lot to do with the mileage increase. I would like to see someone put in a real low gear ratio rear end in and hit the mileage out of the park. The vehicle would have terrible torque but I figure the diesel would make up for the loss in torque and allow more speed.

Think its due to your 370's? I know mine is the ddp4's. I got 18 before that. however I can now close down 4 lanes of highway, the black cloud just never stops rolling out. I think i need to keep tuneing

My last fillup was 15.9 mpg, mostly city stop and go, 100% AC, and the occasional turn up of the Adrenaline and burning the tires in 3rd and 4th. For my current tank of fuel, I have committed to leave it on level one=timing only, and try to get maximum mpg in stop and go Las Vegas traffic. I will report in a week when I fill up.

ive buried the needle a few times on the road and still had more to go like about 1,000 rpms (4k gsk). i just cant find a long and flat enough road to crank it up. the next time im on the dyno im going to see what my top speed is. but after like 90 2,ooo rpm this 14 year old truck starts to "rattle".

when i got my 97 it had 160k on it. at 175k I put a new trans in it and the gear vendors. I went from 18mpg to 24 mpg empty on the highway at 75. 285/75 tires, 4:10 gears. Then I put a #5 plate and 370s in and when I was careful, empty I was able to get almost 25. now Ive gone down to 18-19 again. I cant figure that one out oh ya, at 75 my rpms are at 1800
