While I find the numbers pretty incredible, he has been tweaking this setup for quite some time and giving reports which are reasonable. There really isn't much more that you can do on a 12V engine for efficiency. Then, he has made some large aerodynamic improvements, namely the air dam. Keep up the good work with the mileage mods.

I wonder if you are producing less atmospheric destroying emissions than your smaller prius brothers while paying $2 a gallon in taxes because diesel is considered evil by those who love money.

Cdennyb,
What kind of mileage were you getting before your upgrades. I got 13 right off of the lot. I have 40000 miles on it now and I am seeing about 22.6 mpg right now. My truck is stock.

Some people say that these engines need to be broken in. Looking back to when I first bought it, I would say that this is true. My engine was extremely "tight", for lack of a better word. I have a friend who bought a 2005 2500 a couple of months before me and he got better mileage right off of the lot. I would like to do a couple of things to my truck to give it a better appearance, make it more usable and improve fuel mileage while still promoting longevity. That seems to be a very delicate balance acording to many posters on this site. Still, 33 mpg is awesome.

My engine started out life in my driveway with 31000 on it. I drove it every day back and forth to work, about 266 miles RT. It was cheaper to drive than stay in a motel at the time. I was averaging about 18-20mpg and as I crossed the 75000 mile mark it got considerably better. In the course of about 2-3 months it went up to around 23-25 mpg and that's when I figued it was "broke in" enough and went to all synthetics and additives. I can squeeze it into the 26 mpg range (all freeway) if I watch the foot and the weather's right. (I get considerably better mileage in the cooler wet season vs. the hot summer.)
