315's rubbing...

ok, i was running the factory rims with 315's, was rubbin bad on the DTprofab control arms, enough to take big chunks outta the tires when someone else was driving, well someone traded me a set of 16x10 rims for some 1/2ton rims i had layin around so i did it,,, i really like the stance of the 16x10s and 315's, but they rub a lil bit, i would like to keep the rims but i don't want the rub, does anyone have an idea of a small lift to keep the tires outta the fenders??, i do offroad a lil bit and want something that will hold up,, been lookin at some of the carli, thuren, and such but they are expensive, been wonderin about just some longer coilsprings, like 3" over stock maybe, and an addaleaf for the rear or airbag helpers for the rear, anyone have an idea i can throw around?? thanks

also , how can i get the chrome kit off??

Instad of throwing more money as something you already threw money at, why not just get rid of the initial problem on go down to 285s? You didn't learn problem solving from the Gov't, did you??

Seriously, though-- I think you should look at seeing what kind of money you could get for the 315s and see if it would be cheaper to just downsize a bit.

Otherwise, I can see you spending a LOT of money: tires rub so you need a bigger lift. NOw you need longer shocks. Crap, now I need a new trackbar because the other one doesn't drop far enough. Not to mention the U-joints are now worn prematurely, etc etc etc. See where I'm going with this?

The only way to get 315s to avoid rubbing is with the proper wheel specs and just enough lift. Usually, longer springs up front will do the trick IF you still have the stock wheels. Aftermarket 16x10s are going to rub up front-- unless you lift it MUCH higher. (5" or more).

So here are your options in my opinion, rank ordered from best to worst:
1) Sell wheels and tires and go to 285s on stock rims
2) Sell wheels and do 315 on stock rims with just levelling kit
3) Buy and install larger lift to clear the 16x10s and 315s. Of course, doing this will have you wanting 37's because you'll now have the room for them!

I'm running 315 Cooper STTs on the stock wheel, and I've got over 3/4s of my turning before I rub on the stock control arms. But I ordered 3" coil spacers, 1"-1.5" add-a-leafs, along with new shocks and what not like the track bar bracket and stuff. But I don't think lift with solve the control arm problem... it'll only give you some more suspension travel.
