2wd low kit?

Did a search and can't seem to find any threads on this. Just looking for the best place to order the kit.

Thanks in advance, Matt

Ad site violation? I don't even remember an ad? I'd like one though. I need to order one ASAP. Do any of our site suppliers offer a kit a 2wd low kit?

Since ur truck is a 4wd,

Posi lock it and forget it, and you will have a two low option (just dont engage the front axle) and you will have a reliable 4wd, for what it costs, you cannot go wrong.. You can get the kit from 4wheelparts.

What does the posi-lok run? I didn't see a price. I know the 2wd low kits are only around $70. My main reason for wanting this is for ease of backing a trailer with a double disk clutch.

hahaha....ok, whatever.

a posilock is a cable actuator for you CAD that uses...well....a cable instead of the vacuum lines provided stock. they run around 200 bucks. i made one for my jeep for ~$25, but its not as heavy duty or clean as a true "posi-lock"

and...not being a jerk or picking a fight, but im not selling a home-made posi-lock so please dont delete my post

Purchased a solenoid, 2G497 from Grainger. This is a very small 12v solenoid that is used with a lot of the exhaust brakes. You also need a switch, two 1/8" barbed hose connectors and a bit of wire, ten more dollars.
To install find the vacuum line along the top of the firewall just above the fuel filter. This is the vacuum line going down to the transfer case. All you have to do is place the solenoid anywhere in this line, which when switched on will block the vacuum from going to the stock solenoid that is activated when you pull the transfer case shifter into 4wd.
Simple as can be.

BD also makes an excellent kit for $85.

BD Power (800-887-5030) or Piers Diesel (604-888-4159) offers them.

Phil, thanks for the suggestion. May have to talk to you about it soon. Sounds simple enough though. Hey you coming to East Bend for the pull tomorrow night? Mike D, Brian B and I are probably going. Got a spare bedroom if you want to crash here and a beer fridge in the garage!

Peter, thank you as well. Good speaking with you earlier this week while ordering the 3600 DD clutch and hydraulics. Look forward to its arrival Monday with an install to follow the next weekend..... Your suggestion on backing with the DD has me seeking this. Sounds like a no brainer.

Thanks again, Matt

No problem, I didn't make it, I tore my back up really bad. Out of work today, can't even get dressed or put on my shoes. The doc gave me some good drugs . Which clutch did you get? I am assuming Tim is gonna put it in? Did you get any credit for the other one? What do you think about Mikey breaking the Opie output?????

Cheers!!

South Bend 3600 plate load 12 cerametallic buttons. Came in today ! Yeah, Tim is going to do it. I just don't think you and I want to do that thing without a lift Phil....it is a beast (390#'s dry I just read the other day). I knew it had to be around 400. Peter did me a really fair deal knowing I had out grown the other clutch in only 6 months. I've got no one really to blame but myself for underestimating my hp goals.

Hate you messed your back up.....that is no fun at all......well except for the good drugs and all..... The OFE is fine so I may just hang onto it. I may sell it as it is in good shape with only 5-6000 miles and only 6 months old. I just want to see how this one performs for now, then I'll make a decision toward it.

Me thinks Mikey has more power than the dyno says. I think the Smarty doesn't let the max power be read properly on the dyno. Tim thinks about 50 hp in some trucks. Still though....breaking a billet shaft? What is he, one of 2?....that's pretty good company. We were talking ladder bars today.....we'd probably both be smart to do a set. I was planning on fabbing a set but we found some reasonably priced ones pre-fabbed. Only think that worries me is if my 110v Miller 135 will penetrate well enough on the axle housing to put a bead down for the back brackets? I've got steel sitting here already....just need a plasma cutter to cut the axle brackets.

I just purchased the solenoid you mentioned and can't wait to put it in. I looked at the vacuum schematics for my truck and I think it will work fine. Thanks for the info!
