2nd Generation Exhaust

Crawled under the rig the other day and baseballs will fit in the side of the tailpipe!!! Good excuse for a new exhaust . I am looking for a 4" pipe stainless (good) system that maybe has a little more bark than stock . Not too much clatter though . Please post your recommendations. Thanks in advance...

I got mine from warpspeed, no complaints here. IMO stainless is a waste of money but different strokes for different folks...

At least call and talk to Rip Rook before you spend your money. A phone conversation sold me on him. The guy will tell you straight.

4" Jardine=OK!

I installed my 4" aluminized Jardine exhaust with the help of a neighbor in 2hrs. That was in 2000. Granted I'm in SoCal but it's doing great. Borrow a sawsall, hack that sucker off and install the aftermarket one of your choice. The aluminized ones are $100.00 cheaper now than they were in 2000. Great upgrade.

Depends on where you live, in Michigan the salty roads in the winter can make a stainless system worth every penny.

I installed the 4" aluinized from Summit on my 2000. I was amazed at how well it fit for being aftermarket. I had it in and out in an hour.

Ditto. Love the quality and friendly service from Warpspeed.

$269.00 + $59.00 shipping for 4" with a flow through (diamond eye) muffler. Dare any of the vendors to meet or beat it, doubt they will. I think they'll even delete the muff & add a straight section for less than $269.00.

Stainless is a huge waste unless you are in a (road) salty reigon.

Uh, yeah,... what you said. I spent a few months in Detroit, more cars with major cancer than you can shake a stick at!

Check out the DPP, very nice system, good sound and no "drone". Very easy install. I put it on my 95 about 3 years ago, and very pleased with it.

Thanks for the input guys...I live in PA and have salt galore in the winter, still not sure where to head, but two aluminized for every one stainless system...maybe there is something there. My biggest problem now I think is what is the difference between T-304 and T-409 other than 200 bones! Need to decide by the end of June. Inspection!!!

409 will last just about as long as 304, but 304 will stay shiny

mcctho21,

409 is a magnetic stainelss and will trun gray/brown over time and get some spots on it etc! 304 is a non magnetic stainless and contains a lot more chromium and nickel, hence the extra cost. It will not corrode at all and will outlast you me and the truck most likely! If you're looking at MBRP 304 systems they also includes a dual wall tip in all 304 systems so add that into the cost vs a 409 with no tip etc. If you plan to keep the truck for more than 5 years the 304 is a wise move as 409 can fail in extreme locals in that time.

I got a magna flow 4" stainless for $280. Let me find out if that's a public price, if it is I'll pass the info on who to get it from. It's a nice system. All the hangers look TIG welded and over all quality is excellent.
