Well I hooked up my Amsoil racing filter and took it for a spin yesterday and can't say as I noticed any difference over the BHAF other than 1psi lower boost at cruising speed. The whistle seemed the same as well as the power.

That set up is for the save a penny kinda man,
works just as good as a filter system but is a hell of alot cheeper.

Good work man, little bit of afro engenering keeps one young
and Sawyer1 you could have saved on 5 doller diesel by going to lowes that was specified earlier in the fourm.

Well I would have gladly gone to Lowes if there was one near by. I am talking small city not big where everyone carries the same thing and mostly not what you need.

Itried one of the a/c reducers and they are very thin. I had a friend at a muffler shop try to expand the 4" to the proper size needed and it split. I tried to find a muffler reducer that goes from 6"-4". I will look at it tomorrow and if it looks good I will have them expand the 4"to 41/4" and see how that fits.
I will let you know the results.

The reducer is a standard 6"-4" galvanized metal HVAC adapter. I plan on putting silver/metal tape along the seam and being careful when tightening it. Remember, this is supposed to be an inexpensive way to get A LOT of big air into your engine. It's either $70 for a BHAF with adapter or $250 for a big name one....

or use this stuff called hard cast duct sealant but yeah you can use silver tape.. thats what i used in the inside of mine so its all sealed up. then i painted it flat black. it looks really nice EXCEPT I LOST THE DARN CLAMP FOR THE INTAKE TUBE. i had it laying in the seat of my truck and my grandpa got in it and i guess kicked it out of the truck. so i had to use a stainless clamp that i jacked off a big rig.

I picked up the exhaust 6"-4" reducer today and I think it is going to work great. It is a lot stronger than the Hvac one so no fear of collapsing under hard tightening. I had them swedge the 4" end up to 41/4" to make a good fit on the elbow. I haven't installed it yet but I am sure it is going to work just great. It cost me $43.60. I will keep you updated.

Finally got a chance to install the reducer. I welded a support bracket on it to mount it to the fender before putting on the filter and it works great. The filter is about 11/2" off the fender so it can draw air from all around. Took it for a run down the highway for a ways and it whistles real good and seems to run a bit lower on boost and EGT's. Next test will be with a 14,000lb trailer behind.

It's just a galvanized steel A/C reducer. Go to Lowe's or HD and get in the "big galvanized pipe" aisle. Look for the reducer, it's pretty obvious as it's a common reducer. About $5.
