2nd gen guys need advice

a family friend has a 2001 cummins and it is bone stock other than a upgraded single disk clutch. he is looking for a small box or programmer to help up the fuel mileage. I have used quad on my 3rd gen w and really liked the mileage increase. what do you guys think he should look into and will he need gauges with only a 65 hp box thanks Robert

Guages are always a good idea, but I understand some people are on really tight budgets.

The quad XZT+ is a good module that won't need anything else used with it at all.

I Agree, Gauges Are Always A Good Investment. I Like The Quad Xzt+, But If He Just Want Mileage Try The Quad Max Mileage Box And He Can Always Upgrade It To The Xzt+ And Its Pretty Inexpensive.

the xzt and the mileage is what he is looking at but what is the difference of the two? to me they look to be about the same other than the 200.00 increase in price.

absolutely get gauges especially fuel, for piece of mind. when I finally installed mine after having truck for 4 months discovered there was no lift pump pressure to VP even though truck seemed to run fine. I run an edge e-z and really like it

they are more less the same i think, but xzt+ has a performance setting and the max mileage is just for fuel mileage. the performance setting on the xzt+ adds timming and fuel, and the max will only adjust timing. the xzt+ also has a timing only setting for fuel mileage, but its a little more expensive. the xzt+ will also add 70hp where as the max i think adds about 35hp.

I think the XZT+ is a great option. Even on the hp setting, I'm still getting 18-20mpg. One really can't complain w/that kind of mileage rolling down the hwy in a tank!
