2nd gen ECM question for the Engineers
Can anyone tell me if the flash module in 98.5-02 ECM's is a socket type?
I ask because I have a buddy who is an electrical engineer. He has a flash reader to pull the image out of the ECM if it's a socket type. If it's not it's a lot more difficult. He loves this kind of stuff and is willing to play with the parameters if I'm willing to test it in my truck. The real motivation is for me is to save few bucks
Or better yet does anyone have the image? I don't think the stock code is propriatary so it's got to floating around the net somewhere.

It is all proprietary, prepare to be sued if the ECM is ever sold or shared. I have no idea if it's socket or flash type- I would guess flash since there is software the dealer can flash as well as Cummins. "You are your own warranty station."
With that said, more power to ya! That's how the GM gasser ECM was figured out. Some individuals dumped, then reverse engineered the ECM. You may be able to learn something from their processes. Search Google for ALDL and $EE.
