2nd gen auto trans weak points.....
What are they? I've seen most recommendations for bombing the trans include a torque converter and a valve body. Are these the weak points?
I'm interested in durabilty options.

Different vendors have very differnet ideas in how to solve the problems. One address it with fixing internal leakage the other I beleive is a 3 disk TQ and more line pressure but don't quote it.

weakpoints?? the tranny is the toughest of the three companies... GM and ford tranny's would break to shreads just from the rattle behind a cummins....the tranny works great with a 3kGSK and 10 plate.....u cant be a pig driving it...it ldoesnt like sudden jerky driving......there's plenty of guys on here who have had their tranny's rebuilt after 250 000kms with plenty of towing
tranny issues start like this...florign the truck in 1st gear over and over again so the fluid gets hot....then locking up the TC clutch in low rpms causes too much friction debris from the clutch gets in the fluid AND combined with the overheated fluid and debris u then get clogged lines and failure...

BUT since u wanna beef things up then u have to start with a tighter torque converter to prevent and avoid needless extra revving and heating the tranny fluid...2ndly u dont need triple disk but u do need very high line pressures so thats what the valve body is for....everythign else meh not a huuge issue till u really wanna get serious with ur truck(above 400 hp)
