With the RX7 valve I use it is vented to atmosphere, so it is not simply cutting off the vacuum.

I as well as others have been running this way for a long time now and never had any issues at all...

As far as operation goes.. Saw some more comments on that

2HI to 2LO:
flip switch shift to 4LO

If I need more traction while in 2LO just flip the switch and the front axle will engage...

Back to 2HI:
Pull lever back to 2HI as normal
Flip switch back to off

The one key with this system is you cannot switch from 4x4 to 2x4 without being in 2HI first... So If I am in 4x4 4HI or 4LO and want 2LO I need to switch to 2HI, flip the switch and then go to 4LO...

I did sorta the same thing with a air switch I had in the tool box and a few feet of 1/4" air line. Its one slick setup to have 2low

The way mine is plumbed it holds vacume on it all the time, either engaged or disengaged. I too was worried that it might slip it it didn't

One problem I've considered is the possibility of the collar moving if you only disrupt vacuum rather than reversing it.

Thanks,

Yes, it applies vacuum both directions, so your can hold it in or out. I feel better doing that, just my personal preference.

In the Tech Articles, this is listed under 3rd Gen and I see the post is under 2nd Gen - will this work on 3rd Gen Trucks?

No. It only works on the 94-2000 that had the CAD from the factory. The third Gens have no CAD or hubs thus the front driveshaft turns all the time but it freewheels on the mainshaft in the transfercase when in 2 wd.
