275RV Injectors

275RV Injectors
Looking for feedback on the Bosch 275HP RV injectors. I pull a 10K trailer daily...I have a tapped comp chip but never use it. I want more power and better fuel mileage, doesn't everyone. What will the injectors do to my fuel economy. Any ideas....Thanks!

You look like your set up about the same as I am, They made a noticeable difference in performance, but if there was any in fuel mileage it was to small to notice. Pulling you will notice a big improvement in power.

I do have a stock clutch and have "learned how to drive" the stock clutch....I'm hoping I'll still be able to hold the stock clutch...my truck only has 77K on it for a 99. 2 more questions. First, with my wire tapped...if I don't use stage 4 and 5 will the reliability of my IP stay the same? (I almost ready to "untap" the wire because I don't use it and I don't want to replace the $1500 pump early if I don't have to) Second, I don't have a fuel pressure gage....I'll get one ASAP...electonic or manual is my question. Thanks!

Electric fuel pressure gauges are nice if you want to spend the money for one. No fuel in the cab, so no worries about leaks. The mechanical gauges are much cheaper, but you will have a line with fuel in it running into the cab. I bought a mechanical gauge for $38, and have had zero problems with it.

I'm a believer in the Mechanical guage myself, but that's a personal preferance. On the VP, After reading these threads for years now and living the problem myself, I have seen no trends or reasonings to these pumps. They are a total crapshoot on how and when they go out, so don't even take that into consideration as to how you bomb your truck. You still have the stock clutch and Comp, your a better driver than I am. Even without the wire tap when I had the stock clutch and the Comp turned on, it just spun the clutch. I could sit at a stoplight, let the clutch out slowly and never move, just watch the smoke roll out from under the truck. I guess where I'm going here is you may as well start saving money now for the clutch, cause it's as good as toast already.

I agree, I can make the clutch spin easy...but I rarely use the comp. I tow with my truck all the time and I can't use the comp in those situations (I do to get up to speed or to pass). I think the 275 are in my near future I just wanted to get some more feedback. Can I put them in myself?

Install is probably one of the easiest things you will ever do to your truck. If it's still there, there is a write up in the tech facts on how to do it. Even with the upgraded clutch, when i'm pulling the first thing I do is turn the Comp off. It is only used as a passing gear when towing.

The big difference I noticed was that I no longer had to go out of OD on steep hills towing our 9000lb plus trailer. I can actually use cruise most of the time even going to the Sierras.

I have the 275's and a VanAaken. I couldn't be happier with the way my truck is running now, and towing is all I use it for, up to 29000 GCVW. My fuel mileage empty has come up 1-1.5 mpg, and towing it is about the same or slightly less, but not much. I have basically gained a gear going up most hills with most loads. They are a nice combo for towing if you want your transmission to hold together. I think any more would be too much for the 5 speed. I have the stock clutch as far as I know, and it is holding. I don't run my truck like it is a hotrod, but it does get worked hard towing.

flinn101,
Leave the Comp there just run it on low levels, add the 275RV's and you'll be way impressed especially when you hook up to a trailer. We sell the van Aaken or EZ/Comp and 275RV combination a lot to folks that want a nice upgrade but aren't looking to build a trans or replace their clutch at this time, unless yuo unleash levels 4 and 5 on the Comp that is. It works well has low EGT's and get folks the HP they are looking for with a reasonable cost.
