255/85 R16's + 3.55 gears?
It looks like I will be needing new tires before next winter.
What do you guys think about running 255/85 R16 tires with 3.55 gearing? Too tall of a tire? Will the change in gearing damage anything while towing? I don't tow real often, and usually not real heavy (less than 10k).
I'm running 285's now, will the small difference in height make a difference?
thanks in advance, chris

If you are already running 285s, 255s should be an improvement. There is not much, if any, real difference in the height, but they are considerably narrower. They should weigh less, and have less rolling resistance.

I'm running them for 240 000 kms. Only thing I dislike about the 255/85R16 is that I can't get a snow tire... I don't know if that's the same for you but you mentioned winter and I must say that BF Goodrich Mud Terrains are less than optimum for snow...
