24V in a Chevy?
Probably not the right place, but here go's. With all the recent woes I've had with my 98.5 POS, I've decided the truck must go, but not with the engine. I have a 84' Chevy Suburban (I converted 8 years ago to gas from diesel) w/1 ton axles under it that needs an engine, so I'm thinking this would be a great home for my 24V. Does anyone know of anyone who has done this before? My only obstacle would be the wiring, the rest I can handle. Any help would be great! Thanks

I put tranny cooler lines on a 1984 Chev 3500 dually last week that was sporting a Cummins ISB crate motor. It had been in the truck for 18 years. Not the cleanest install I'd seen, but a dang nice ride.

its very straight forward. you'll need a 3" body lift to clear #6 at the firewall (or a BFH to massage it back) may have to notch the frame rail if you have an AC pump on the engine. intercooler will fit you have to cut and reinforce the rad support to suit. and make engine mounts. engine crossmember will have to be modifyed if you want to take the pan off without removeing the engine later down the road.
that all I can think of off the top of my head. I had a '95 12valve I was about to drop into a '86 SRW crewcab Chev 4x4. but someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse for the engine. so I bought this '98.5.

Other problem is engine weight. IIRC, the GM 6.5 (what was used in the diesel 'burbs) weighed a little over 700#. I think the 4BT is about the same weight. The 6BT is about 1100#. The 'burb frame can handle it, but you may need stiffer springs to keep it from doing a permanent nose dive.
