IIRC he had Jammer 3's, I know he had a Catcher and a 62/14. He needed more fuel or a smaller exhaust housing...

Big Blue is dead on.
The 1.6's smoke much more than do the RV's. I can't speak for the auto trans, but my EZ is doubled jumpered (no fueling), and response is awesome. I pull quite often; reason for my combination. Behind a 6-speed, very responsive; unloaded with the TST on, scary for 7800 lbs.

Here he is, he has 1.5s and 3.54s with a tight auto.
I'll have the 12 housing in next week and I'll let you know.

With the 14 housing I got 36 lbs of a boost. When the truck is empty on a steep grade in OD at 65 mph the EGTs were 1400*. And with a trailer unbelievable!

The Catcher is for sale and the Smarty will replace it.

If you are going from a Catcher to a Smarty you might wanna PM Bob Wagner, It seems like they were discounting the Smarty for those that had a Catcher already...

Sounds like you are on your way to a more appropriate setup.

My vote is run the stock turbo, set the wategate for 36psi. Run the mach 1.6 sticks and wait and see your egt's. I'll bet that you be hard pressed to see 1500deg's pre-turbo with your combo. You might see coolant temps go up on steep hills and you'll have to take your foot out of it anyways. I ran 100rwhp sticks and a ez on a stock turbo. It worked well. Add a comp box, I'll have egt's issues but use your throttle to control the temps. Down the road buy the other turbo. Another cheap fix is run a 35/40 turbo. I found a used one for $700. Its easy to get talked into spending money. I've towed a trailer similar to your weight running a comp box, 100rwhp sticks, HY-35. The motor looked good and yes I worked the motor towing. I gave my sticks to a 5 speed truck running a ez. He tows 20k in the mountains. I would worry more about your brakes running those tires and towing.
