24 valve p-pumped done! GREAT workin!

ok A friend of mine, p-pumped his 24 valve cummins (quad cab, shorty, dodge automatic tranny)!

we sold him our 215 pump, which we had lying on the shelf!

and he and a shop did the other work!
he bent the stock 24valve fuel lines, to fit on the p-pump,
installed a 30 psi lift pump. and some other work...

yesterday night he came over, and showed us the smooth running engine, and asked us to race him.
He with his 24 valve autom. with 215pump with plate, against us (single cab, manual 12 valve 215 2wd with plate and 4k gsk)

they had very similar power! once he got us, by one truck, next time, we won him, by 1/2 truck or so! 1/4 mile = 90mph

the conversion costed him about $400.00 plus the 7100 pump!

i think its awsome! a rattling 24 valve, smokin like a 12 valve!!!!

I was gonna do a p-pump conversion....then I decided that most guys with the 24v have the vp44..so i might as well suck it up and get a good lift pump and keep the vp and just hope it doesnt fail...and if it does then oh well

but after reading this thead...i want details....more details!!!!!!!!!!

edit:
i believe that to do the p-pump conversion you need to:

1. get new injector lines or modify your current lines
2. get a 12v timing cover (bolt on) or modify your current timing cover
3. get a p-pump....and shoot your vp
4. run an oil line to the p-pump?? not sure on this, i believe that it is lubed by oil.
5. find a way to attach your accelerator cable to the p-pump (shouldnt be very hard)
6. I believe there is something to do with the gear that runs the injection pump....change out or something...not real clear on this.
7. am i missing anything else? i am sure that i am.

taking notes for future p-pump conversion.

You pretty well got it. I've got $2500-$3000 in mine and thats with going through the pump. Lets see as for the rest of the $10000 some places charge, I could have a 5500 rpm monster

P-pumped And Lovin It

I did mine about three months ago, it cost me right at 1900 thats with a haisley cam and oversized injector lines. Maybe people are finally begining to realize its not that hard, it can be done in 2-3 days, tops.

I love my p-pumped 24v and anybody that needs any info are welcome to pm me.

or you can call me at 325-200-8847

its the best running combo ive had yet

not really that much---

the only electrical work i did was to wire up the fuel shut-off solenoid i used an old style ford starter relay

other than that you have to relocat the computer from the block to the firewall, but theres nothing to it but cliping a few wire looms so it will reach.

not so easy...i dont think he has internet!

but ill try to get more info from him! and pics later...

he bent the stock 24 valve lines. it did not look all professionally but it sure does work! saved almost $500.00

he put the 24v throttle assembly on the side of the pump. it looks good though.

i think the 24 valve, has a sensor ,sumwhere, which makes lots of things work... he prepared a "bracket" n put in that sensor in there, which works perfect!

ds1rider: 215 pump is a p7100 (just like the 160 HP, 175, 180 ...)
