I've seen 540 on John_P's old 2nd gen with a Hx40.

18 housing? Most of the impressive '40 numbers I've seen came with the larger (though less popular) housing....

How can you tell what housing you've got? Maybe its something wierd???

If you motor good, how much blow-by you getting? Is it coating your hood? Is oil covering your rad? If your getting abit of oil at the bottle, I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like you got a winner of a motor combo. I wouldn't change anything. The most HP I could make on a HY35 turbo was 400rwhp and had sky high egt's and that post turbo egt's. The turbo was a dark brown color. We've seen the pictures of motor's running to hot of egt's and coolant temps but saying that when I took my motor head off, everything looked good inside. The head was in good shape. I only ran 90rwhp injectors and an edge comp box.

My turbo is a little mis colored and have not taken the topend off yet. I dont have a bottle for the blow by its a hose on the front cover and when I run it hard it covers underneath my truck pretty bad. When I get done towing my loads it drips for about 30 min from the tube and empty it does not leak any or blow it out. Got a motor this weekend took the top end off and off and it looks good so... I hope I got a good start on a new builder. Found out that the turbo was a hx-40 not a 35. I am thinking about the bd super special twin set up for the new one but $$$$ kinda tight.
