not safe not safe not safe...........waiting to peel the tire off the rim while rounding a corner is he? cause it will sooner or later.
this is the profile of a 24.5 alcoa, but they're the same as 22.5/ notice the taper of the bead seat. the tires match that seat. "passenger vehicle" rims have a much more vertical seat - 90 degrees. for bead retention. class 8 rims and tires are designed for huge loads straight down through the sidewall and beadseat. thats 80,000-120,000 of loaded truck is what keeps the beadseated on the taper. and the taper has a larger surface area of contact for load distribution and bead retention.
heres my 22.5 alcoas turned down to 22.0" with Nitto 420s 305/45r22 on them.
