Re:Short-Throw Shifter
Some guys have been having leaking probs with these. Wondering if they tried to crank out too many too fast when the demand went through the roof. I want to get one but will hafta wait until I get quiet again. Its a zoo now..

Hey HOSS, you happy with that short shift shifter?
Personally I'd be happy if they just made a rig that changed out the stick and brought it over closer to the driver.
Let me know.

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
Re:2003-Short-Throw Shifter
Mine leaked when I first put it in. A big leak and not just a drip. Couldn't understand it because I was careful to clean all faying surfaces and put some gasket maker on. So pulled it apart again, could not see any reason for it to leak except for a metal to metal surface. Cleaned everything extra well so no trace of oil remained on any of the faying surfaces, put on new gasket maker and since then, no leaks.

Re:2003-Short-Throw Shifter
Mexstan..Your'e exactly right on the smooth to smooth surface issue...as far as leaking. The best solution, I've found, and I have installed a few for friends, is to roughen the billet spacer w/sand paper or file on both sides, including the top of the rubber spacer where the bilett ones meet. Then use liberally, RTV "RED" high heat silcone as the sealeant. The rough surfaces create enough surface tension area for the sealeant to adhere with-out squeezing out and leaking. 9 installs, with this method 100% success. The bummer part some people have experienced is harder shifting, worst gear clashing etc., right after install in some 2001 HO including mine. My advise, if it works after the install ie., not worst shiffting problems then before, you're good to go. If you do , take it back out immediately, and obtain a refund. Another kit will not correct the problem, and more time, changing fluids, or with usage will not make it better, and you will be doing some damage to your tranny. I can't explain why, however, the majority of this problem only occurs in some 2001 Ho's???

Re:2003-Short-Throw Shifter
There is a "whiplash" shifter that angles the stick over toward the driver.
Rip Rook will have in a few weeks, the solution to the "notchy" Sport shifters on the 01 6spds.

Re:2003-Short-Throw Shifter
Does anyone no of any company producing a stick that gets it closer to the driver for the 03 6 sp.
I don't much care about the shorter shift throw. But would really like it closer to the left.

Re:2003-Short-Throw Shifter
Why can't you remove the stick, heat it and bend it to suit your requirments? It only takes a few minutes to remove. Anybody see any problems with doing that? OK, you will lose some height but I don't see that as a problem.
