I agree. You've been considerate, are running a muffler, and are well within your rights so just press the issue a little

I bet the local trash truck is louder anyways =P

Why doesn't the ol fuzz bother all the clowns in my town with straight pipes? One dufis with a new welding rig has a 5" with no muffler and proceeds to shift at 3200 RPM every morning at 6:00 like clock work. Wakes up my youngest daughter and really gets my blood boiling.

I would tell old smokey to research the sound laws and go bother some Harley riders or the other clowns with open pipes.. 80 dB is the limit IIRC and I would bet $100 you would pass with flying colors..!!!!

I am more than willing to attend the Beer and Fumes meeting at your place!!!

Ouch .... now i feel really bad for my neighbors ... i have a tendancy to let mine idle in the driveway for a while ... but at idle the motor is like 3x as loud as the exhaust.

I'm gonna have to research the sound laws here locally ... cause at WOT mine surely isn't quiet.

I'd bet those Harleys are way louder than you truck. I'd definitely point that out to the cop.

The fact that he threatened you with a tow without ever testing your DB level makes me think he was doing a buddy a favor and just trying to scare you a little.

I would just keep being considerate like you have and see what happens. If you hear from that cop again then start the battle

Move to Texas. People here generally understand the whole Big Truck + Diesel Motor = Sexy Loudness equation.

The neighbor caught me one morning saying that I need to park around the back of the house because I wake up his family in the mornings, 6:45 start and leave 10 secs max time hearing it I have stacks but never break 1250 rpms. I got a ticket for parking on a public street because I rent and the guy said he couldnt see down the road. Its a dead end street and he and I are the last house on the st. I had it out with the lady that wrote the ticket since I called them and they said it was fine to park there. Long story short I am looking for a new place and ready to punch them in the noses.
Later,
AC

You could buy ( or borrow ) a stock 12 valve and REALLY annoy the heck out of them.

Other than that, I would host many, MANY bombing parties.

Funny, I can't stand a 24V because it is too quiet.

Other than my suggestion with the stock 12V, you had better become quite intimate with the laws in Alberta regarding Aftermarket exhausts and carry the law with you, because I think this skunkfest is just beginning to get started.

Just out of curiosity, one of your neighbors hasn't recently purchased a Prius, have they?

Oh yea, and my days of being courteous would have just went out the door.....

Find out who it is and have a talk face to face, tell them to get used to it because itll be 10 times louder when its 30 below.Really if youve got a muffler on it and they still have a problem get it inspected. You can easily pass a smoke test with the smarty if needs be and those trucks never had a cat on them anyways.Id find something theyre doing that peeves you off and exploit it,maybe their cats crapping in your yard or they take their dog for walks unleashed and let it poop wherever it likes and maybe theyre watering their grass on the wrong days, vague threats like that seem to work in my experience

A safe way to make you look good would be to have someone else with a loud diesel drive down your street a couple times making lots of noise and smoke while your trucks sits in the driveway. Do after hours when everyone is home. Keep being cool with your truck . . .

Might make you look really good while giving them a taste of what bad is!

You can borrow my truck! My old '73 F-100, 300 I-6, with a 2" gap between the exhaust manifold and the downpipe, and a little bit of 3 1/2" tubing we found laying around. Sounds like absolute feces, but it'll sure wake up the neighbors every morning at 6:00. (Closest neighbor was the bossman, and he didn't leave for work until 7, so he couldn't complain)
