2001.5 FASS Install
I need to put in a lift pump, gettin' a FASS this weekend, and need to know if its something that I'll be able to install in a parking lot instead of paying the shop to do it for me. I'm in the military and just working out of my small toolbox. Just tryin' to save myself some money on labor and a 75 mile round trip to the shop.
Thanks for any input

Ahhh, the good ol' days of working on the ride in the parking lot...I remember it all too well from my time spent in the Navy...until I found out there was a DIY auto repair shop on base, where they rented stalls to work in (some with lifts), tools, etc. This was at NAS Mayport, Florida. Have you checked to see if you have something like this available? The FASS is (IMO) a little too involved to be a parking lot job. For one thing, you'll need access to electric power for a drill (or a heck of a good cordless drill) so you can drill holes in the frame for the mounting bracket. Probably the hardest part of the job for me was getting the stupid factory quick-connect fuel line fitting disconnected from the tank (because of the way it was turned) so I could hook up the fuel line the FASS came with. It was all downhill from there. Good luck...

Definately check out if there is a hobby shop on base/post. Like 24v said they will have tools and lifts and all that good stuff. I wouldn't want to do it in a parking lot but it can be done if you absolutely have to, you may have to be creative but you could do it.
