2 Piece Manifold leaking??
Ok some of ya know i got the turbo, injectors, manifold and stacks on friday, so been driving him all weekend, i'm low on boost i think (27psi) and its not starting till 2000 rpm, so tonight i thought i would double check all the bolts on everything, well i got a CES 2 piece manifold and at the slip fit joint its black everywhere, all over the valve cover, manifold, then i noticed the alternator was sooted up, looks like maybe the turbo outlet to the intercooler might be leaking, is this why i'm low on boost, and how do i fix these leaks? The orange oring looked good, and the slip fit joint, what do i do with that? Any info would be great....thanks

Did the 2 piece come assembled, or did you put it together? How loose is the joint? When we assembled my ATS manifold, we heated up the 2 end pieces, and it still needed a couple taps of a mallet to get it in. Had some never-seez on it as well.
If you have a boost leak, you may just need to tighten up the clamps, or the boots may have a rip/tear in it. You'd have low boost if this were the case. If your alternator was sooted up, I'd still be suspect of an exhaust leak, not a boost leak.

The joint was loose, and when i got it on with all the manifold bolts loose, it was not seated all the way? but theres no way to do that considering all the bolts are in, and it wont move any closer! Hmmm??

2 pc manifold????--CES--never heard of them--but if you have soot you have exhaust leaks which will hurt your boost and if you have innercooler boot leaks this will also kill boost --
have you checked the manifold bolts?? you did put the manifold gaskets in didn't you?? are the turbo mounting nuts tight and you used a gasket there also didn't you?? and there's some bolts on the exhaust housing of the turbo, make sure those are tight and make sure the exhaust clamp is tight---that's the only places soot can come from unless you have cracks in the exhaust manifold or the exhaust housing of the turbo---
any piping from the turbo to the innercooler and back to the intake manifold will not have soot, unless there's an exhaust leak and it's being sucked into the turbo via the air filter---make sure all clamps are tight---makes sure the bolts on the compressor housing are tight also---
sorry if I asked dumb questions, but one needs to ask them to be sure---good luck, but it sounds like you need to remove the exhaust manifold and see why it's leaking around the joint---chris

The manifold came from ebay, CES is whats on the manifold, not forsure it thats the brand or not? I went over everything last night, rechecked all the bolts, manifold, turbo, boot clamps, nothing loose. and YES did replace all the gaskets. If i remove the manifold can the new gaskets be reused? Thanks for the info, i'll keep looking!

Wondering if there is any way to pressurize the inlet system? I went to the lake last weekend and fought high egt's all the way, mileage was around 8, never had boost unless i had my foot into it all the way, then had to run 4th gear at 2800 r's to keep the temp at 1150! Called II and they said i have a leak somewhere, i've been over this thing already. So wondering if i can unhook the turbo and pressurize the rest of the system at all to look for leaks? Any ideas would be great guys... thanks

A 3" pvc plug and a valve stem on the hose that comes off the turbo would be the cheapest/ easiest way. I went through this recently and used a 4" plug, valve stem, and some 4" hose I had sitting around and connected to the turbo inlet.
