1st Test Drive with the #10 plate... WOW.

Well I finally ground a sorta-#10 plate, did the best I could with a bench grinder.

At the "top" of the curve it is cut a little less than most, but I'm happy with the way it performs anyway .

First thing I noticed was that when I started the truck... PUFF OF SMOKE! You don't know how long I've been waiting to see that .

Tapping the accelerator also made more little puffs of black smoke .

Took it easy down the street to let it warm up, then got out on a 55MPH road and started "testing". When I rolled into full throttle (I hate stomping on the accelerator), the RPMs would hold at about 2000RPM and OMG that dually will haul (compared to stock of couse). I need to fiddle with the star wheel some, All I have done is install the plate just a little more forward than stock, not full forward though. Once OD locks it pulls even harder. I just can't believe how big of a difference just a plate made.

At first not much happens I assume because I haven't messed with the starwheel yet, then the turbo lights and the boost gauge rockets up to 30 PSI, EGTs hit about 1050-1100 and then I have the biggest smile on my face. Smoke is not bad at all... which is a good thing I guess.

Anyway... !!!

Boy....I'm jealous. I've had the #10 and 3Kgsk sitting on the bench and a little afraid to attempt putting them in. Now that I have the 13 in SBC clutch it's time to roll baby.

I reallly....really....really need to get this done. I need a big smile on my face from raw power. It's mostly the limited towing a horse trailer in the mountains that I need it done. Yeah..Right!....that AND I want more POWER!
Sorry for shouting. Man...I love to hear these stories!

Can't believe you have never messed with the pump until now..thats the first thing I woulda done. Does the exhaust sound better? I know after I put the smarty on it was louder.

I think it's just because there's more fuel moving through the exhaust

More boost = more air out the exhaust = more sound

Have you blocked off / disabled the wastegate or installed the adjustable boost elbow? If not, that'll let you boost up more to burn all that new fuel.

Yeah I have an adjustable elbow, just haven't put it on yet. I can't imagine what that turbo must sound like at 35PSI, its screamin' pretty good at 30 .

it'll sound like a fighter jet with even more boost. Once u get a 3gsk, u should really have a smile on ur face. So push everything full forward and enjoy.
