1996 turbo / non-turbo swap
hi everyone
I have a situation here. I have a 1996 dodge turbo diesel in my truck, the rings and bottom end are pretty much shot. I have a 1996 dodge non-turbo diesel engine in a full size van. (I have had people tell me that in 1996 non-turbo diesel engines in vans was not an option)
My main question is that, Can I take the block from the van and put my intake and turbo etc. on to that block??? Is there any way to check to see if they match up before i start tearing things apart?
any help you can provide would be great.
thanks

I didn't know Dodge had offered any sort of diesel in a van, ever!
Obviously I don't have any info but I'd start with checking casting numbers and post back. Is it similar to the 12-valve CTD otherwise, as far as having the P7100 pump etc.? If everything matches on the outside I imagine you wouldn't have any problems with the internals as far as being stout enough to handle the turbo. I'd check to make sure it has the same head, pistons, and stroke though; a non-turbo engine *may* have been built with much higher compression.
I bet you're going to have fun pulling that big heavy thing out of a van...
