1993 CTD Boost Question
Well after some research i found out my truck actually has a banks power package on it. I was just wondering why i cant peg over 13 psi of boost. It runs fine but i am seeing people mention boost levels a bit higher. Do need to make any adjustments on my pump to do this? Obviously more fuel means more exhaust, and more exhaust means faster turbo spin ( am i right). I hate being a new guy!! This is my first diesel and my first turbo vehicle so i am in whole new world!!

In stock form many 1st gen trucks only made 13 psi boost, but I'm surprised if your pump has never been tweaked since someone has spent the money on Banks upgrades. I don't know what your Powerpack consists of, maybe it's only intake and exhaust stuff. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that I'd recommend troubleshooting and looking for problems (boost leaks, fuel supply problems etc.) before simply turning up the pump.

This would do better in the 1st gen forum, but IIRC your truck should have a 18cm exhaust housing on the turbo. Put a 12cm housing on it and it will help out quite a bit. I have a friend with a 93 5speed and with the governor spring, some pump tweaking, and that 12cm housing, he can push it to about 30psi when he really gets on it. A governor spring is a MUST on the first gens. If i had one, its no doubt the first thing i'd do. Be sure to search around in the 1st gen. forums, lots of info in there. Good luck with your truck.
