19.5's?

Ok, I'm sure it's been covered a lot before, but I'm new and search yeilded virtually nothing.

Who's running 19.5's? I need to get new tires soon and was thinking of biting the bullet. I think they look killer, and the treadwear is great. I'd be looking at a 34" tall m/t like the xde. Any pros/cons? I use my truck for daily driver duty, and occasionally tow 10K or so.

I am on my second set. The first set I had the six inch wide wheels and ran 225/70R19.5 General LMT-400. After 89,000 miles, I developed a bubble on one of the sidewalls that eventually burst. I had about five-thirtyseconds of thread left. I decided I wanted 245's so I bit the bullet and got the 6.75 inch wide wheels. The biggest drawback is that they are heavy. Each wheel and tire weighs 140 lbs. Makes it chore to rotate the tires and probably hurts the ride quality a little. But, I am realist. I do not expect this Dodge to ride like a luxury car, let alone a IFS pickup. I would never go back to sixteens.

Good for heavy hauling, campers, 5th wheels, etc. but I don't see a point unless you do. They are heavy and expensive and it takes a man's man to rotate 150# wheels or change the spare.

I'm used to rotating big tires since I bought this truck to haul my rockcrawling rigs...however, the cost is huge for a srw and I'm just see sawing on the fence. Thanks for the input.

I paid $500 per wheel with tire, mounted and balanced. Not the end of the world but I think you can do better. Vision makes cheap China made aluminum 19.5's for $160 and you can get retreads for the rear tires if you don't rotate them to the front (maybe bad idea though?)

Rickson has the Visions on their website now. Take a look at the comparison they have on them to the forged wheels. The cast ones may work for you. They sell them both. I have usually seen that you get what you pay for if you have done good research.

I agree about the quality.

Ricksons price on the Visions is a bit high at $ 227.05. I've heard they sell for $160.

Rickson steels are $242. It's just so expensive.

I would probably go cast aluminum over steel... Over 5 wheels, we're talking a $450 difference

Forged aluminum would be nice

On second thought, the steelies have the correct offset, keep the wheels right close to the hub where i think they belong (not stuck out like a hooptie), and are skinnier which will allow 225's, which is a tire choice that I would pick.

njoverkill,

You stated you paid $500.00 per wheel for yours. I checked your photos and did not see them. What are you rolling on? I would like to see some pics of what you have.

I can't honestly say I noticed a difference in braking, but I am sure there would be measurable differences. Just not enough to keep me from running them.
