16cm2 housing question.

I think I already know the answer but I want to make sure. I am putting in a TST plate and a 16cm2 housing on my '96. I believe I do not need the little "bleeder" elbow that usually goes into the turbo since the hose that comes off of it is to control the waste gate which I will not have with the 16cm housing, correct??

Thanks.

John

Re:16cm2 housing question.

You are correct,if it is a non wastegated housing.if it is has a wastegate you will need the elbow.

Mike

Re:16cm2 housing question.

Thanks for the confirmation, katoiler. I have been told to "be careful not to overspool the turbo" when running without a wastegate. I am going to install an EGT and Boost Gauge before doing any mods at all. How can I tell if I am overspooling the turbo? Excessive EGT's? Thanks again, I am reading, searching, and learning so your help is most apprectiated.

John

Re:16cm2 housing question.

All I can say is if you over spool and get a compressor stall its a sound you will never forget, just watch your boost gauge and you will then know what pressure your truck doesnt like. All trucks with the wicks turned up act differently due to the different choices you make as you bomb. Hope this helps.

Re:16cm2 housing question.

Jrr, that definitely helped. Now I won't sh-t a brick when I hear some god awful noise come outta her under alot of boost. I wish I could stop myself from messing with her, but I just gotta crank it up, I guess it is a disease that all of us on the board have.

Thanks Again.

John
