15" Subs

Anyone put 2 15" subs under the rear seat?
Right now I have the box sitting on the back seat and it's a pain to squeeze people in the back. Anyone know if it's been done?

TIA!!!

Never done it, but im guessing it would be too much for a truck. It wouldnt sound very good imo.

I don’t think you can get enough air space under a back seat to make it sound good. A lot of 15’s need at least 3-4ft of air just not possible under the seat, even if you raise your seat, but good luck if you try it.

I wouldn't suggest it .. in fact w/ the airspace under that back seat ... i've not been able to build a box to handle 12's .... downfiring 10's seem to perform VERY well in that air space.

I've already got them in the truck! They sound great and they aren't too big (deep) for 15's

10's are as big as I would go under the seat......just not enough air space to move 15's...let alone ROOM!

I have 3-10" subs under my back seat and they sound great! Anything bigger and I don't think it'd sound all that hot. I had 2-12's in my old 1500 in a box on my seat and they didn't it near as hard as my 10's.

Well, back in the day, I had a convertible Ferd Ranger with a windowless camper shell on the back that was open to the cab of the truck. I built a "W" box to sit on the bed rails (inside the camper) right behind the window of the truck. With no window between the truck and camper, the box put 2 speakers on each side of the "V" behind the driver and another set behind the passenger. I had 4 15" Kicker Comps and 1000w bridged amp running them. 8 other speakers in the truck for the mids and highs with their own set of amps. Needless to say, volume was not a problem.
It was a regular cab mini-truck, so the only room behind the seats was for the amps mounted on the wall.

Only the stock radio in the Mega, got into Ham radio and out of broadcase radio, so now I have to plan the antenna farm on my new truck..

15" Kickers that had 4.2 cubic feet of airspace for each speaker. Kicker recommends 2.5 - 5.

Yah ... you have them in the truck ... but not w/ a functioning back seat !!

3 10's downfiring is ideal for me ... i'm on my 3rd box ... and this one sounds amazing !

Mine are actually 3 seperate boxes. I was sub shopping at Quality auto sound in Boulder and they had some pre-made boxes sitting there that were just the size I was looking for....I just made a bracket to attach them together and it worked out awesome.......and with the color of carpet on them it looks like one big box.

You might swing up there or any quality auto sound and see what they have just for grins!

i have 3 mtx 10's, and they SUCK, i have 2 of them hooked up to a 750 watt punch amp, and they are "bottoming out" when they hit. im about to get 2 kicker comp CVX's with 4000 watt max, 2000 watt continuous audiofonix amp pushing them. the box will be custom built to fit behind my seats. a buddy of mine has 4 kicker comp cvr's in a xtra cab ranger with 2 1500watt audiofonix amps pushing them, and they will rattle his mirrors to where he is looking at the ground. its all about preference, do you want somthing that will make your eyes vibrate when they hit, or do you want good quality sound? if anyone has any questions, send me a pm, ill be glad to help. i deal with sound systems about every other day.

FloridaDiesel, I just built a box for behind my seat and it has 1.8cu.ft per speaker. I only have 1 12" in it now but it is divided and I'm going to get the other 12 later. The 12 I have now is just a Kicker Comp and with only one channel of a 2 channel Lanzar 900watt it is crazy. I think 1.8 is about the most you can get w/o pushing the seats forward so make sure the CVX's don't need more.
