12 valve vs 24 valve who wins?
Hey my friend is doing some mods to his 1998 12 valve he will have afe intake, intake manifold, 100hp injectors , not sure what fuel plate but its from city diesel, the package they offer. 3k springs and exaust with a 5spd. i have a 2001 dodge with dtt trans, edge juice with attitude, j hook 80hp injectors, intake mainifold and air intake with exaust, bd high flow pumps. both trucks are running the same size tires but i have a 4.5" lift and he has 2.5" so the question is who will be faster.... or lay better numbers?

From a kick, you might be in trouble. From a stop, you should be able to take him. If the injectors are any count he ought to have a pretty strong truck.

The 24valve will TOAST the 12 valve. You can't throw a few parts together on a 12 valve and reach it's full potential. On a 24 valve with electronically tuned parts, you can get away with mixing and matching parts and gain 90-95% of potential HP increase.
Put that 12 valve in the capable hands of good shop like Brad Ponci or Jeff Garmon, that 12 valve will spank the 24 valve.

Its not rocket science to make a 12v run good either.
How do you know his 12v isnt tuned good? A 215 pump with any decent injectors, a 3k, and a plate should be a strong runner. Even if the timing isnt advanced it shouldnt be a slouch, but if the timing is advanced it definately should be a runner.

12v on stock turbo is likely not a high hp engine, but won't be a slouch either. Sounds like it has a real good setup. But, the tranny is gonna be the down fall to the 12v. If it had an auto, I'd say it would be a real close race. Edge would be given to how the 12v was tuned. Its all in the AFC.

Yes we both have stock turbos and 24valve is a auto and 12 valve is a stick.. it should be good as his truck runs like a top and has the jam. but mines on the ball too.. maybe its time to upgrade the turbo???

Turbo for sure. All that work and an HY is your restriction.
I am sorta betting on the 12V myself.. But with a stock clutch, it won't be much over about 300 hp to the ground. Been there...
