12 valve Cummins mods?

What kind of mods do you recommend doing to a 12 valve Cummins? It will be a 5spd.

What kind of things should I do to it to get more power and a decent amount of smoke?

Get a nice open 4"+ exhaust, Grind ur fuel plate to a 100, move the afc forward, turn the starwheel forward some, install a gsk kit, do the afc mods. Then get some bigger dv's(delivery valves), Bigger turbo, bigger injectors. I know thats not real detailed, but u can search each of those mods for specifics. Depending on ur year of truck the pump's HP will be different, but with those mods u could be at ~450hp+ ~1100tq depending what combination and pump u have.

I'm fairly new to this, but i would suggest getting your pyrometer and boost gauges first. The mods that gave the most noticeable difference were the "0" fuel plate, Afc housing moved forward, boost fooler elbow, the 370's and the 3000 governor spring kit. and Doesn't take much to make a 12v fast. With the mods that i've listed in my sig, I managed to dust a LLY duramax last night, and also a infinity G35 coupe. All this with probably less than $600 worth of mods. For more smoke, the 370 injectors, afc housing moved forward, and 0 plate, and not too mention my small turbo, almost makes my truck smoke like a sled puller.

Also, where is a good place to buy all of this performance stuff for a 12valve online? I can't find anywhere that has all of those parts you mentioned.

I am looking at a 1996 5spd club cab right now.

I'd probably get the 4k gsk springs though.

Also how do you get more boost for free?

Sorry for all these questions, Im new to these 12 valves.

Also what is the difference between a #100 plate and a #0 plate?

i tapped the fitting off of the afc housing and added a screw to set it at 33psi
with that truck you will get the 215 which has enough in free mods to hit 1500egts with the stock turbo.

A 0 plate is flat = full fuel the 100 plate has a little lip or ramp at the bottom of it= auto tranny saver, smoke controll on takeoff but gives full fuel upper rpms like 0plate.

So basically with a #0 it will smoke more on take off compared to a #100?

Would I be able to do fuel plate, afc housing moved forward, boost fooler elbow, move starwheel forward, and a 4k gsk spring kit, as well as delivery valves and still be alright on a stock 5spd clutch for a while until I can update it?

Also, what is a good site for 12 valve diesel performance parts?

You'll slip the stock clutch with a 0 plate. A good place to find these parts would be citydiesel.net, puredieselpower.com, sourceautomotive.biz or just search for the part online.

So what would be the next best fuel plate to buy that the stock 5spd clutch will be able to handle without compromising a lot of low end smoke or power gains in general?

I've had very good experience buying parts from citydiesel.net and from rich at southern performance diesel. Rich doesn't have a website up yet, but i'll p.m you his contact info.

Bingo. I have put 50k on the original clutch, did all the mods to mine the week I got it. The clutch had 100k when I got it. I tow 5k pretty much daily.

Rick ran a stock clutch for a while with a 100 plate, 4k, 16.5* and 370s... It's all in the right foot.

And about the smoke, remember what it does for our image, I'm not saying all smoke is evil, I can make the road disappear, but just try to keep it reasonable/under control.
