Wow what a difference. The thing still needs a little tuning but you can definatly tell the power is there. I have a hesitation around 2200 then it is like a 4v holley carb coming in as the RPM flys up at wot. Also no smoke when you get on throttle that I can see in the mirror from a stop or rolling. I put the plate in the stock location and adjusted the gov arm to the bottom of the plate. The truck fires right off and idles ever so slightly lower so I think I may need to tighten the springs up another click but that will have to wait.
The maiden voyage is over so now with no leaks so I need to finish up. Still need to add the gauges, 60lb valve springs, adjusting the timing and flush the radiator. Plenty of work ahead still to do but I just had to share.

Mine along with others also has the hesitation at around 2200rpm's. How high in the rpm's will your truck pull in say 3rd or 4th gear? Does it pull to 4k with no problem? It sure does make them a lot more fun to drive.

Feels like it is starting to defuel at 3100RPM give or take. I got the gauges in but havent ran it to hard yet. The highest reading I have gotten was 850 degrees after a 0-40 blast crossing the road. Truck definatly drives alot better but I think that there is a little adjusting that needs done still.

Oh yeah
that 4K will really wake up your truck, get a more aggressive plate and it becomes a race between the pyro and the tach... I have my springs a bit too tight as well, the tach comes down slower at the 1K rpm range and so forth, so i need to loosen mine a click or two. Glad to hear ur enjoying ur new toys!

The timing will help too. If the idle drop is less than 50, just bump the idle, I'd leave the GSprings as is. What about the AFC, did you do a spring in there too, and tweak the AFC? Is it slid forward?

Timing still to come but I have all the tools so it is only a matter of having the time. The AFC housing is in the stock location and I havent played with the star wheel since before the plate went in. No spring change in the AFC. Actually it is fueling pretty good from the get go. I may actually back the star wheel off. It is getting all the fuel that she needs under the curve. The truck will actualy break the 35s loose that are under her during hard acceleration in 2nd gear. She just needs a little more across the board.
