Great info about your experiances. The list you wrote above is super as well.

Thanks

I, too, liked J Lent's recommendations. The only thing I would change is moving #5 & #6 to #2 & #3. That way you have your foundation built for all future bombs.

If you are going to put it in the shop and have all the mods done at once, I guess it doesn't matter which order they are done in!

Right after I bought my truck I read an article about bombing a 24v. They bought a truck for 15K, put 5k into it and got a 500 hp truck for 20k. I fell for the idea big time, but have gone a little over budget Oh yeah, and the 500 hp part,........ never got there

I think a new vp44 sitting on the shelf might be like money in the bank if funds allow.

I've made pretty good $$$ with my truck. Its a daily driver work truck. You really don't need alot of stuff to get to the usable 500rwhp mark. The idea of an aftermarket cam and o-rings is an luxury items. Must CTD's can't really use all of the 500rwhp as you will over heat the motor towing. A single turbo under 50psi, is all that required. I would limit your wastegate to around the 45 area, your headgasket should be fine. After you blow it out then, replace gasket and o-ring. Why pull out a perfectly good headgasket?

Scheduled maitenance is preferable to break down maitenance. Mine should be coming out next week if all goes as planned.

If you are looking to see a truck with high HP you should take that 10,000 and invest it in someones truck that lives in the local area that has already put a large amount of money into the truck they got and start a diesel racing team. I already have my truck parked and staring to tear down and make lighter and faster. let me know what you think

I agree... I would take the 10k and buy a second truck to build and beat on!
