1 ton no guages
i'm looking at a 96 dually 5sp. it's got an elbow exhaust brake and straight pipes. it doesn't have any guages other than the factory ones. should i be worried that this thing could have been running too high of EGTs? if not, should i even worry about getting guages if i puchase it? do i need them? thanks

Drive it and see if it smokes heavy with full throttle in top gear. If not, he probably just did the exhaust and e-brake. That or he might have done like I did through four trucks. I took my VDO gauges with me to the next truck. If it's all stock, you don't really need gauges. I used mine for shut down temp of 300*F post turbo. A 96 12v in decent shape is hard to find. I'd be tempted myself...

thanks guys!
what exactly do you mean but top gear? 5th i'm assuming? i'll have to ask him about the aftermarket stuff and if there were guages. i never thought that he might take them with him. now that i think of it, that's probably what i would have done.
