1/4 mile run
Well I think I have finally found a spot in my old trucks life that I can stop bombing for awhile. Made a couple of passes at the local strip today. 14.7 sec/91 mph and 14.5 sec/94 mph. Just wondering, Does that seem OK with my mods?

I still have the stock turbo. Off the line the truck sort of drops out like a dead horse and then they all wake up and set you back a little. (if you power brake too much, you burn tires too much) At the 1/8 mile, time was 9.3 sec. Temps running about 1100-1200 in the 1/4. My sons firebird beat me by .1 secs. His problem is too much burn on the line.

Smokin, The temps may have crep up a little more than that but not much. The numbers I saw 900 maybe a little over, add 300 because I am running Post Turbo. Give it 1300 max.

Well bama you got me wondering, but both runs were much the same. If my Pyro is that far off then I'll be getting in trouble. I've made a few back road 1/4 mile runs WOT with about the same Temps. did have one a little higher. May have to do a check with a heat gun. One thing I have not had from the begining is very much smoke

Bama, I'm running BullyDog injectors. The truck has always run strong but since piercing the wire, it runs like a scared rabbit. Kinda like Seabiscut.

if you want smoke i'd suggest shipping the Comp back and get it reprogrammed for the "Drag" version. the standard comp after 2700 RPM it starts defueling and at WOT is doing nothing it has reached the stock fueling levels. The drag version you'd have +120HP to the goverened RPM so you will have more smoke . We have the Drag Comp and at WOT she smokes like crazy.

Gene007,
I too would suggest the drag comp version and there is also another thing us 01-02 drivers need to have a good launch and good 1st and 2nd gear run. The BD anti-defueler! In 01 and 02 Dodge Cummins in their infinite wisdom programmed in a torque management system that will not let you load up under torque braking and will defuel when winding 1st and 2nd gear with lots of torque. It is listed on the BD Power website.BD Power Anti-Defueler
When I launch I would boost to about 20 psi in 4 wheel high. Without the BD antidefueler when my boost would get to 15 psi it would defuel to 10 psi and when I would launch it would stumble like you described. This is precious time at the strip. Now I launch at 20 to 25 lbs of boost and just hang on!!!!! I have many tranny mods so don't try this without billet input and output shafts. Hope this information helps your times and helps you understand some of the characteristics of your truck.

Hey mcevins, How does your B1B quick spool work for ya. I been looking at buying one or buying a PDR twin package. Of course if I buy the twins I'm not gonna have any money for beer. I been told that the b1b spools slower than a HX-40. I luv the quick spool of the HY turbo but I need more air for the higher rpm blasts

Mike,
I have run both the B1B quickspool and a B1 quickspool on my 02 auto. I have plenty of fuel to spool either turbo (TST pm3, Edge EZ, and Mach 3 Edm's). They both spool so quickly and come on so strong that I would say they are almost as quick as the Hy. After they spool there is no comparison. If you go with a B-1 turbo make sure you make arrangements to have an external wastegate when you increase fuel. I have a 38mm Tial wastegate and my truck will wastegate at about 48psi. Without the wastegate it would probably be 60psi or more. The turbo probably wouldn't break but the head gasket would surely want to blow.
Good luck on your decision.

mcevins, what converter you running? Mines pretty tight mid 90's I think. Its a BD LX converter and stalls about 1700ish. Right now to spool the HY it takes 2 seconds. I was thinking about buying mach 3 or 4 to help get things moving. The BD anti-fuel is a thought but knowing my luck I'll break an input shaft/output shaft. I didn't buy the billet shaft option.
