07 stock alloy rims on a 2nd Gen
Just thought I'd post some pics of the 07 stock alloy rims I picked up off ebay locally. They have 285/70R17E Toyo Open Country A/T's on them.
I had the tires mounted to the rims and then installed the wheels on the truck myself. When I got the first one on it appeared there was no difference in the width as it sat on the truck. However, when I looked at the other side with the stock steel 6.5" rim and 285/75R16D BFG A/T KO on, I could tell the new rim sat in about an inch.
As far as handling, now that I've got the tire pressures dialed in (45 psi in the rear, 50 psi up front) the truck handles great.
I *may* go with wheel adapters to bring them out an inch at some point but at 250-300 dollars for a quality set it's WAY down the list. To be honest the set up looks fine to me and the wheels line up good with the truck.
So overall I'm really happy with the set up. 3rd Gen wheels are all over the place and can be had at really good prices. I've posted some notes and a couple pictures below. They are rough non-standard measurements but they might give someone contemplating this set up an idea of the differences between a common set up with stock rims and the 3rd Gen alloys. Take it for what it's worth...
BTW, a BIG THANKS to 1quickdodge for answering a couple of questions I had before I jumped into this!
