Like this - with DD1 and a Comp mine opens up at 29lb-30lbs. I tried the turnbuckle (which keeps it closed) but it sounded scary at the upper end and I didn't want to explode my turbo.

jcarrillo, go to your local Tractor Supply Co store or local hardware store and buy a 6 inch long double hooked turnbuckle. Hook it to the wastegate and to a solid part of the turbo. After that you will have roughly 30psi of boost on the HY35. You can buy a turnbuckle with a hook and eyelet, just heat the eyelet and bend it to a hood shape. The turnbuckle should cost about $3.00 and take about 10 min to install.
Here's a pic of one with a hook and eye

ok i have a hy 35 i got 20 psi with a stock turbo and when i put the j hook on it i get around 25. then when i put the turnbuckle i got like 30 then i cranked on it to far and got 40. i plan on keeping my turbo for a while so i just kept the j hook on it. and with the smarty not installed i never got a over boost code...weird cause i figured i would. but a smarty does boost fooling.

The MAP Sensor and the ECM work together in regards to Boost and Fuel. On a stock truck the wastegate on the turbo is set around 20.3 Psi. If you put a Boost Elbow or J-hook on the turbo on a stock engine (no boost fooling). The MAP Sensor will transfer that number back to the ECM. Once the ECM reads that the boost pressure is higher than what the OEM is set to (I believe it is around 21 Psi) the ECM will trip the Overboost code.
If you do not have a boost fooler of some sort, you will throw the Overboost Code.
Will it affect the trucks performance? You shouldn't hurt anything by running higher Boost than what the ECM is programmed to. However I think the truck will start to de-fuel itself to try to bring the boost pressure back down to normal, I think...

I wasn't able to get to tractor supply in time today. So I wired my wastegate shut with mechanics wire. I was able to get my boost up to 25 psi. then I guess after the wire got hot and stretched out some because after about 40 miles it would only get to 22psi. It sounded awesome right after it passed 20 psi. I can't wait to try the turnbuckle. I wonder if i should go with bigger nozzles next or stack a smarty on top of my big hoss?
