A valet switch doesn't let the injection pump "see" any boost.

It simply blocks off the passage between the pump and turbo.

It would have an effect similar to disconnecting the MAP on a 24V.

BTW, I'm curious also, as a friend of mine might be doing a #0 plate also.

Re:0 plate w valet switch
It should work just fine, I have a #0 and a valet set up from Piers although the valet hasn't been installed yet. Cutting off the boost from the AFC make the lever arm on the AFC the plate. Piers does most of his towing with the valet engaged. On high HP trucks and the proper adjustment of the AFC it limits you to 200-250HP.

A 0 plate will work just fine with a valet switch, remember that in valet mode the plate is not even being used, the way to take power away from valet is AFC housing, DV valves, or injectors as those are the only players.

BOTW, I made 433/868 in valet with small DV's and the AFC in the middle.

Jim

Good numbers Jim. I'm guessing this is with the twins in valet. Piers numbers were with a single HX40/16. ;D

I know of 2 more guys that are right beside you in the 690's and are also 12v's.
Great job Jim.

Re:0 plate w valet switch
due to my injectors, turbo, and tranny, i'm not at the higher hp levels, but i do run a #0 plate. sure, i control fueling/smoke and egts, but i prefer that sometimes. i CAN run around with no smoke, but i usually let out some. and i do smoke pretty good at WOT--i leave nice big, then long clouds with only upwards of 315hp or so. i don't run a valet switch yet, but i've been thinking about it for simply cruising around town.

#0 plate driveability? fine. #0 plate with big injectors...well, then you'll probably need a valet.

Tom

Re:0 plate w valet switch
i just have many times that i put out much more smoke than i want at the time, i was thinking i could run with the valet switch on 95% of the time and keep the smoke down. and get the extra fuel when i wanted it. mike
