$40 custom exhaust

Well, went for the low buck exhaust last week, after reading everything here and elsewhere i came to the conclusion that i had little to lose..... so, went to the local muffler shop, had them cut and flare a piece of 3" pipe (64" end to end, standard cab, standard bed) and removed old muffler and cat (sawzall and die-cutter, BFH) took 5 min. Slid on new pipe (flared both ends) new hangers, weld shut, and away! Don't have gauges yet, but: seems louder, but friend says more so on outside! Can't say about MPG, EGT etc, but who cares!? $40 and i lost 35-45#, gotta be a performance improvement there!hahahhaa Next is steering box support, came in last week... time.... stupid work/life !

I did the same thing. Didn't take a month of complaining from the other half (and neighbors) to finally end up with a full 4" exhaust. Now I have a second 4" muffler in the shop to add when I have the time. The 2,200 rpm drone really echos in the cab when I have the camper and trailer

Try padding the back wall of your cab. I did that in my dually, helped a lot. Will do it properly next year, right now its about 4 pairs of coveralls crammed behind the rear seat.

I did the 3" strait pipe thing once also. Wasn't long after that I went to a 4" DP to 6" stacks with NO muffler. Loved the sound, but everybody is different.
