I think a case could be made that Clinton could have taken him in the 90's but there was no concrete evidence... darn US judicial system.

After 9/11 any President would have been foolish to not go after those who attacked us.

But while on the subject, I think that somehow a more concentrated, better organized effort could have resulted in his capture by now, I could be wrong. I also do not think that the chase for Osama is to GW credit alone, or that anybody else would have not chased him too.
The problem in capturing the guy, is the sheer size of the area, and the lack of accessibility in the first place. He is hiding in caves, and under rocks, popping back and forth across borders while living like a billy goat.

Obviously you can not send in 100,000 people and expect to corral him in a day. The only way to get this guy, is with small well trained teams who can bird dog him without giving away their location.

Don't forget that he has lot's of help over there, many of them who are helping are Pakistanis and Saudis, Jordanians, Iranian and Iraqis.

I think you are forgetting that Clinton let the guy virtually build an Army on his watch, GW is the one who sent the soldiers after this slime ball.

Hopefully this will help to clear up some of your confusion

I'll say fair enough, thanks for the clarifications. But you have not addressed all of my confusion, namely the part about the saudis, in my earlier post. I'd like to know your opinion on that.

The Saudi's permit/encourage more terrorist activity in their country than nearly any other in the region. There is no hiding that fact. The only reason anyone knows the name Saudi Arabia is because the Brits discovered oil there in the 50's. Unfortunately, the only way to deal with Saudi Arabia is to turn it into one large parking lot with several large oil derricks pumping at rapid pace.

Would be very dificult, at least under the Bush administration considering the level of personal friendships, I think, but I am with you on that.

I guess I haven't seen the J. Kerry ad where he says he's going to take on Saudi Arabia... my bad.

...How could you miss it? Oh yea, not in an ad, it is in the document, you know the paper, on page 37, paragraph 12, subparagraph G, item IX. It says: 'take out Saudi Arabia with prejudice before pulling the troops out of Iraq and turning control over to the UN.

Still, for me personally it just does not sit well for our President to be fighting terrorism on one hand and keeping friendships with its sponsors on the other. I may be reading into that more, but till I see some truth to the contrary I can't help the feeling. It does not look well either to champion freedom and democracy for the region, but also embrace one of the most totalitarian regimes there.

guess I missed that part about the UN wanting anything to do with Iraq in a military sense... Kofi Annan is one sneaky S.O.B... of course that Oil-for-Food program they were running has their pockets so full of cash I'm sure they could lend a few dollars to help the rebuilding cause.

at least this president is willing to fight terrorism abroad, albeit with a blind-eye to Saudi Arabia. Just because I support Bush doesn't mean I agree with all of his policies.

... you miss all the good stuff...

As for your support, it is fine by me, you feel that he fulfills the needs of the presidency. I am not so sure and that doe not make me sure about Kerry either. Personaly I am asking a lot of questions, airing displeasures, and listening to others viewpoints and learning. Hopefully by the time it comes down to the vote I will have learned enough that I will not regret my choice.

you may regret it either way. If you are truly undecided, do your research well because in my very unhumble opinion, the mainstream media is already in the tank for John Kerry.

If either candidate would just lay out the groundwork and true nature of the National Sales Tax, it would be a landslide in their favor...

MCMLV, that is the most sound and intelligent answer I have heard on here about deciding who to vote for. Good luck.

For those who do not know of him, Zell Miller is a very respected politician in the South by both White and Black citizens. If no one can read the facts he presented and just claim that it is politics, they are very mistaken.

While he was giving his speech, I was going up "Zell Miller Parkway" headed for Blue Ridge, Georgia. Thought that was some coincidence.

Thanks to Palmetto_kid we have the speech in its entirety, (thanks Phillip, now if I just get the video to go with it). Haulin_in_Dixie is right and it’s not just the South, (Sen. Miller garnered some respect in many Northern and Midwest states after Thursday’s speech.) I respect Sen. Miller where I live in NC because he doesn’t white-wash the truth. Nor does he put a spin on his voting record. I like a man who loves his children and considers their children and the children of his grandchildren to be family. I admire Sen. Miller because, like me, he can’t understand why anyone would accuse our President, no matter which party he’s affiliated with, as being a liar or using the Sept 11 for political gain. I admire Sen. Miller because he wishes out-loud for everyone to put aside partisan politics and work together to stop terrorism here and abroad, it certainly isn’t going away by ignoring it or waiting until the United Nations deems appropriate to strike.
I don’t presume to know what Russian President Vladimir Putin is thinking today, but I imagine Russia is gonna start doing some proactive things themselves after the attacks by terrorists earlier this week at the elementary school in Moscow and the downing of those two jetliners earlier. What I’m saying is we citizens need to put away our politics, stop calling one another names and to support our president (whoever he is) and the leaders of other countries in their efforts to stop terrorists before they strike, to protect out borders, shore-up our economy, and repair our health care system etc. Don't all of us want the same things?
Nat
