Zell Miller's Speech at the Republican Convention

Probably the best speech I've ever heard at any convention. and to beat it all, it was by a Democrat at the Republican convention. I thought he hit a home run. I wish I had a copy to keep for ever!

Very pointed and very good! It established a timeline and a direction of Kerry's voting record, and exposed his vote on Desert Storm. The spitballs line was a great one too.

Zell Miller shows what Dems. used to be in Tenn. He is the Democrat like my Grandfather voted for not the liberal tree hugging Dems we have now. There are places in this country that like the "new" Democratic party but in my neck of the woods most of the people that voted Democrat changed to the party that reflect their beliefs. Most of the people here don't belive in gun control or gay marriage or alot of the other way left policies of the new democrats. I say Go Zell!!!!!

Obama's speech at the dem convention was 10 times better- and far more relevent- even Sharpton- whom I usually hate- was better than ol' Zig Zag- let's face it

"Zell Miller shows what Dems. used to be in Tenn. He is the Democrat like my Grandfather voted for not the liberal tree hugging Dems we have now."

Yep- a typical racist redneck that wants to take us back to the "good ol' days" when we didn't allow interacial marriage and wouldn't face prosecution after a good ol' fashion lynching. Something to be real proud of.

The Dixie crats mostly started to leave the Dems back in 68 when the dems decided tolerating racists wasn't okay anymore. Zig Zag hasn't left yet, too bad.

Do you know why Repubs are making noises about an amendment over gay marriage? It has nothing to do with the "activist judges"- it has everything to do with a decision called "Loving vs Virginia"- where Virginia made interacial marriage illegal- a black woman and a white man, went to New York, which allowed interacial marriage (and interestingly enough, faced almost the same ire as Vermont and Massachusets from the south then) and the Black woman, Loving, was arrested when they found out she married the white man. Turns out, the language of that decision pretty much makes any ban on gay marriages unconstitutional- and even conservative constitutional scholars agree on this point- pretty much every law person understands this actually, and most poeple who follow this case.

Yep, ol Zell must be pretty mad that some good ol' southern boys can't go out and "kill a ******" for fun anymore- must be a real bummer for him these days.

CruisingRam, I'm trying real hard not to take this personally just because you don't know any better. Zell Miller is the Senator of a state that is 60 to 70% black. As limited as you are I would think you could see they wouldn't vote for a "typical racist redneck" as their Senator. This man has served in the Georgia state goverment, as lt. Gov., as Gov. was appointed Senator than won reelection. I'm having trouble following your "good ol' days" interacial BS. I'm not sure what they're teaching up where you are about the south but I'm pretty sure you need a refresher course. I'm sure thar aint nearlyy a one of us ignorant rednecks as smart as you people way up yonder, but we're sure trying.

The statement I made about Tenn. Dems had nothing to do with racism or lynching, but about southern family values. Cruisingram if you have nothing to add to these discussions slurs and slams why post?

Yes Obama's speech was good I listened to it and I liked it. America is the place he and I love. Doesn't matter the color of the skin.

You call Sen. Miller a racist redneck. Obviously you don't know him. He just happens to hold family values dear for both blacks and whites and every other race. Zell a racist? Hardly.
"A good 'ol fashion lynching" and implying Southern boys like me want to kill (some vague reference) because I live in the south I find extremely offensive.
America is not perfect but it's a mighty fine place to raise a family, whether they be red, yellow, black or white. You won't find me calling any race some derogatory term. But you may hear me telling them about Christ.

By now I'm sure you're no longer listening, but since you asked, the thing that bums me, like most Christians, is the abortion issue. Murdering innocent unborn children bums me.

Senator Miller's speech was one of the best I've heard in years. It reminded me of what my father (a lifelong Texas conservative Democrat) said when he switched to the Republican party in 1980 - "I'm not leaving the Democrats - the Democrats left me!"

And, no, he wasn't a racist redneck - just a good Christian man who lived what he believed.

Yeah, Zell did a great job.

The people needed to know Kerry's 20 year Senate voting record and the fact that Kerry avoided it like the plague during the Dem convention left it wide open for the GOP.

Perfectly legit IMO.

For the voters to make an informed decision, they have a right to know how the candidates voted in their previous career.

Thanks Zell!

Nice to see a Democrat stand up for what he believes is right, rather than follow the down hill trend of his party.

I used to be a Democrat myself many years ago, but the complete lack of moral judgment shown by the Democratic party, pushed me to the right.

We need leadership that actually stands for something, not just bowing to every single special interest group. We need a man in office who will say something, and mean it! A man who will not take any thing off these terrorists, even if that means chasing them to the ends of the earth.

A man who knows that if you aren't making some people mad, you are not doing anything!

O wait...we already have that man Go GW!

...So I guess it would be safe to say that Osama has left the planet, since GW has already searched to the ends of the Earth?

It is a sad thing when the only way people know one is doing something is by getting mad...

BTW: wHy is it that in this great quest of liberating people we did not try to liberate the Saudi people, or even tryed to bring then to justice for supporting terorists? Oh yea, the compassionate Saudi Royal family who so much loves the democratic process and grants so much freedom to its citizens, especaily the women, is personaly family friends of the Bushes. No wonder they also think that "W stands for women"

As far as Zel: Well at that age it is the mind that goes also...
