The breach was at the processor, not the bank. Instead of publishing the list of banks whose customers were affected, Heartland should have published their client list. That way you'd know whether or not Heartland lost your card data based on where you had used your card.

My bank sent me a statement and a new card yesterday explaining what Heartland did. My account wasn't affected by this, no unusual charges or anything.

Credit unions.
We use two local credit unions only. They are non-profit and the board of directors doesn't clean up in the bucks dept. No doc and other high risk loans never originated at ours. Their help makes a decent wage and you see the same faces for years.
