yup i made it...2 years ago just before i turned 18. i had a blast doing it, met some good guys and can say it taught me alot about respect and kept me outta drugs and the like growing up. its my proudest achievement in my 20 years!
i have been out of the loop since getting it tho, id love to get involved again as a leader. also i know a couple kids who made it at 14/15 years old...working very hard, but i don't see them getting the same respect as a 17-18 year old. its an achievement...but you shouldnt rush thru it in 3-4 years and miss out on other things.
my hardest part was the ceremony when i explained that i had set-up and donated a large sum of money to a fund in memory of my best friend in scouting who died unexpectedly just before my 18th birthday. the fund was set-up and a set of guidelines developed so the younger kids in the troop must meet a certain criteria and then be voted on and who ever wins the award each year would get a free summer camp "scholarship" (about $250). my buddy chris was the kinda kid who got picked on by everyone and would still help you no matter how bad you treated him...sad to see him go. R.I.P. Chris Claes, wish you coulda been an Eagle with me!

I think I need to reword the poll.
"Gave up" halfway through doesn't really fit a lot of you guys,
circumstances beyond your control made it so you had to drop out.
Off to reword as we speak.

My nephew made eagle scout at 14 years old. He is now 16 and has earned over 100 merit badges. He set a goal for himself when he started to try to earn every merit badge.

I was a cub scout when I was a kid. Got into sports and then the Army. Found shooting weapons and playing in the woods more interesting. But I do miss the pine wood derby races. I can't wait to build a rocking car for my boy (hopefully, no kids yet) one day .
