I'm sure you can do a bolt on exhaust, carb kit, and easier breathing intake. I've got a polaris 700. I wanted to do the similar...get more out of it. The amount of money you put into it...you really don't get much out in return. These atvs, or rather the polaris, is pretty close to max output. I was afraid of reliability after doing any sort of mods. You are out in the middle of the woods hours away from black top....you don't want any extra sources of trouble.
IMO...

I'm on
http://forums.atvconnection.com/
which is OK, but a lot of threads seem to slide downhill into people dickering back and forth (unlike here, where everyone is polite and helpful).
There is also
http://www.highlifter.com/forum/
Which caters more to mudders, but I bet you could also find helpful information there.

Not trying to sound like a jerk...but why didnt you just buy the Grizzly 700 if you wanted performance? I learned this lesson the hard way...I bought a Polaris 700sp and I've spent more money trying to make this thing faster..... I will say that I can stay side by side with a 800 outlander up to about 40mph...then he says goodbye.

Well cost for one! And I do mostly trail riding in the mountains so speed was not an issue. I am just trying to mod it a little. So if anyone has any suggestions would be helpful.

A chip for a quad? wow. I hope that is FI.
To the thread starter.
Check out this site http://www.atvnation.com/ . They are very helpful there and they have sub fourms for just about every manufacture.
You can do the basics for performance upgrades. Rejet the carbs, intake & a exaust. It's just like our trucks, the 3 basic items.
Im a little mad at my self. I went out and bought a 2006 660 Grizzly a couple months ago then they release the 700 FI w/ Power Steering, lol oh well.
I've been thinking about rejetting my carbs and all that but to be honest with you I realy don't think i'll see that big of an improvement in power. I can already get mine on 2 wheels easy enough. Not to mention 56mph is plenty fast for a 4x4 machine.

One thing is most quads are jetted really small from the factory for emission reasons... My 660 and 600 (Griz) are jetted up around 4 or 5 sizes. Much better pull throughout top end and cold morning startups are much better

My Grizzly was sitting in my garage (not heated) for nearly a month, never fired up at all. Temps were -15 some nights. Just the other day I changed the oil, diff fluid ect and went to fire it up for a drive and boy oh boy was it not eager to start. I had to realy crank it for a prolonged period of time. It's got exactly 400 miles on it and I already replaced the spark plug. Is this a normal thing?
Darn, I should of bought the new 700.

Rejetting actually helps w/ cold starts?

The little Griz has a carb. There's probably an ignition module out there w/o the rev limiter, but that's probably not what Twodiesels is after...
Dynojet makes a kit, that would probably get rid of the factory lean condition, and pump up throttle response.

K&N makes a filter for your application, but I'd also run a prefilter...

I would guess there would be kits to increase the performance of the CVT, too, and maybe there could be a gain to be had by moving the shift point to higer RPM. I don't know much about CVT systems, but here's an article...

I would guess that the best fun to $$$ ratio, and best reliability would be to leave it stock. Aftermarket stuff is pricey, and doesn't add to resale value. It would be easy to spend more on parts than what trading up would have cost.
Anyway, if it were mine and I felt the need to turn it up, though, I'd probably just go with the jet kit and maybe see about opening up the air box. It probably has a stock foam filter that already flows more than what the motor could use.
You could probably also find an exhaust can or system somewhere, but my guess would be it would be a small power gain for quite a bit of money, and the extra noise could give the anti-atv groups something to complain about.

I followed the link above the the jet kits. $60 bucks seems like a bargan for a little extra power and improved cold starts.
When you guys jetted your Grizzly did you notice more "umph" out of it? More low end power or is it all up top where I realy don't need it?
