The Gillette area isn't too bad, not too far from the Black Hills or the Bighorn mountains. I personally wouldn't live right in Gillette, but like stated above, if you can find a place outside of town it wouldn't be bad. You might look in to Moorcroft or Wright. They're about 30-40 miles from Gillette, but a bit nicer towns to live in from what I've heard.
I don't really know a lot about the area as I've only been up there a couple times for the National High School Finals.

When I visited my sister and her husband in Gillette, I found it nice, it is small, if I remember the pop was 17,000. Which I loved, growing up in a town of 4,500 after leaving Wyoming. B-I-L says it does get colddddddd. But he says he stays in the cruiser with his dog as much as possible. They told me last Nov the roads have been re-done in around town a lot so no more gravel in town. In the end I agree with most see it and decide if you love or hate it.

We went up there and really liked the town and the people but it looks like the job thing just isn't gonna work out so we are gonna look at other options. Right now we are looking at something else up that way and another option in Lubbock. Thanks for the suggestions.

No matter where you move to, if you have any time at all, subscribe to the local paper. It will give you some insight to the daily activities and give you a perspective of core values in any community. The "opinions" in a newspaper often times represent many peoples' thoughts. You also get housing information, want ads, sales---just an easy overview.
